NCAA Bans Schools From Subscribing to Recruiting Services

Postby Stallion » Mon Apr 11, 2011 12:03 pm

OK I feel much safer. Couldn't they have just banned those offline services not availiable to general public online for a nominal fee. Doesn't the service wide release of information moderate any possible problem. But you see where the NCAA is going-although they went to extremes. I think they are also trying to target the cozy wink wink relationship between Coaching Staffs and the recruiting services that seem to know every recruiting move a team makes by sundown and seem to serve as adjunct recruiting arms for the Coaching Staffs. Now on to banning the internet and social media!!!

If there are those relationships that you suggest, don't think for a minute the people on both sides are two steps ahead of the NCAA.

The NCAA is waaaaay behind on this and will never keep up with properly policing college athletics because of its own hypocracy.

I'll just go get Jerry Tarkanian to go after them again.

The NCAA is nothing but a fraud.

yes almost like when a politician wears an American flag lapel and speaks about Family Values while working on their 2nd wife with a girlfriend on the side.

really doesnt make sense to ban reputable sites like rivals, scout etc. The NCAA should have a list of approved services including these sites which are available to the general public.

"UPDATE
The plot thickens. According to CBS's Bryan Fischer, "Every single school just had to report a secondary violation 'if they were or ever have been subscribed' to Rivals.""

What does this mean for schools already on probation? For example Alabama was placed on three years probation in 2009. If they were using Rivals last season or the year before, does their probation get extended for the secondary violation? This seems like a waste of time since subscribing to rivals was legal at the time.

or when they "feel your pain"...they're all lying, left or right. pay college players a small stipden and apply strict penalties to elite programs for violations for starters
