Randy McKinnon is ready to begin his SMU career again. After transferring from Syracuse before the 2010 season, McKinnon's stint with the Mustangs' defense lasted less than two games, as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee in SMU's win over UAB. McKinnon spent the rest of the season watching his teammates play and waiting for his chance to return to the field.
McKinnon is expecting to get that chance in 2011, albeit at a new position. He has yet to take the practice field with his teammates this spring, but when he does resume playing, McKinnon will be at a new position: linebacker. McKinnon visited with PonyFans.com to discuss the adjustments he expects to make at his new position and what happened during spot linebacker duty at Syracuse.
Enjoy!
