Its unfair to the stangs to expect a win

......the emphasis should be getting another starting QB who is a Phi Delt since they usually are All-Americans or they win conference Championships. See Gil Johnson, Don Meredith, Mac White, Lance McIllhenney. Didn't Doak Walker sling it around too a little bit in his day. That's where Rich Alum's rush updates have real relevance to producing a football dynasty here at SMU-not to mention the continuation of the Phi Delt dynasty.

SMU is a talent in progress.

We have to use quick short passes.

Remember TCU still gave up 637 yards last week.

I say we should try to win for Northwestern's Brian Huffman.

Those frogs better be ready for a fight!

I second the motion. If Hugg would come out of retirement, we could carry this unanimously.

As a FIJI and father of a current student, who is an SAE (don't ask), the more interesting Greek question is why the vast majority of the jocks avoid the Greek System.

In any case, none of the houses are going to get the QB or FB BMOC. The Greeks are often disconnected from being on teams as well as skipping the games to stay on the Boulevard.

In response to Mustang 75....no doubt Gable was a Phi Delt......I've got Betty Childs somewhere between a Theta and Pi Phi.

Who would win SMU vs. Adams "The Fighting Atoms".

Stang Fan's quote stinks!

Postby Bo 17 » Fri Sep 10, 2004 5:44 pm

Stang Fan's quote is the kind of attitude that creates losing seasons. SF quotes

"The Mustangs need to remember that there is no pressure to win this game. "

Thsi is rediculous...our guys need to know that there is a huge pressure to win this game. This is our arch rival...this is for the iron skillet...this is for bragging rights in the Metroplex...this game is huge and they should know that there is no excuse for losing this game!

Do you think that if OU or Texas had had a bad, the following year their fans would tell them that there was no pressue to win....Come on Stang Fan...THIS GAME IS FREAKIN' HUGE and our STANGS had better win!!!!

Well said, Bo .... and thanks for bringing the topic back to SMU sports.

The players have to feel - and DO feel - the need to win this game. As they should. The TCU game is always an important game, whether the teams are dead even or on opposite ends of the record spectrum. This game - and every game - is crucial. When you've lost 13 in a row, there's no such thing as a game that's not important.

Besides, stang_fan sounds like a frog troll posing as a Pony.

I'm sorry for trying to protect the team from a failing fan base. My post, however, should have gone to students that "have things to do" during the game tonight. Not to this message board. You guys are relentless in supporting the stangs. I don't want to see the campus forget that football exists if we end up losing. That being said I still think we have a good chance to win and we should do everything possible to do so. I guarantee you that no one on this board cares more about the Mustangs than me(other than parents of the players). I have a huge capacity for loyalty and am utterly offended to be called a frog. I am a junior and I have never missed a home game.
We must shake the \"snob\" reputation. Bring Dallas back to SMU.

Here we go again-Troy along with Marshall and Fresno are perhaps the best examples in the entire country of a school built on non-qualifiers, partial qualifiers, JUCOs and Division 1A transfers. Look at the schools having success against the BCS-they all have the same thing in common. BTW recognize the QB Chris Leak-he was perhaps the No, 1 QB recruit in the nation as a senior when he signed with North Carolina.
