ESPNU 150 Watch List WR Dominique Wheeler of Texas has a surprisingly short list of offers given his lofty status, but that could be because most schools figure he won't stray out of state. Indeed, of his 11 offers, six are from in-state schools and one is from nearby Oklahoma State.
The biggest of those schools, Texas, pulled out of the running for Wheeler back in February, which could end up working to the benefit of some of his smaller suitors. Wheeler said recently that TCU was his favorite, but he told Kevin Lonnquist of SicEmSports.com, a Baylor site, on Wednesday that he meant that TCU was his favorite of the schools he has seen.
"I like (Baylor) a lot. I just haven't visited them yet," he said. "I want to try and get up there in the summer time so I can talk to them and get to know them better."
Wheeler certainly appears open to smaller schools such as Baylor, SMU and TCU, which means one of them could benefit from Texas' decision. He added that he wanted to try to get to as many campuses as possible before making a decision. His national offers are from Auburn, Clemson, Michigan and Utah.

Re: Dominique Wheeler
UPDATE: Dominique Wheeler told Blake Munroe of InsideTexas.com that he has whittled his list down to six finalists, with the smaller in-state schools still in play. "TCU, Texas Tech, SMU, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma," Wheeler said. "Really those are in no order. I also have a little interest in Arkansas as well."
Based on his placement of the Horned Frogs, we're guessing that TCU might still be Wheeler's front-runner, as much as he may have one.

Re: Dominique Wheeler
He is friends with SMU starting LB J.Davis and they went and played at the same high school. So hopefully he realizes the advantages of playing WR in JJs system. Just read what certain NFL scouts have written about being a WR in JJs system.
