Hope you have a good source this time. Buzz would be great. Jones and Pastner have too much baggage.

Miller and Terps barely discussed contract before Nike stepped in and threatened Miller. Jumping to a UA school, even if ts Maryland, is potentially very damaging to rising careers.
Lastly, Turgeon did leave b/c A$M is a football school, and he played at Kansas, and coached at Wichita St, both hoops schools. He hated the support he received administratively, and from the 'fans'. Just wanted a basketball environment, can't blame him.
Did you get your feelings hurt because you predicted Miller and you were wrong? Trust me, Gary Williams is a friend and I know Turgeon very well. I am not being abrasive but once again a "know it all" ponyfan puts out wrong information.
You don't know jack. I was there. Go away, you're a troll that incites w/everyone. Miller did want the Maryland job, he just couldn't really make that move. we knew we'd have to pay more b/c of UA affiliation, and I say that w/heavy heart

Coaches making multi-million dollar salaries are threatened by shoe companies? At this point, you can't even claim the tail is wagging the dog.

how else do you think they get their players? Its all big business. These kids are moved around like trading cards. Show no respect, get your trading cards confiscated. See Terence Ross a few years back. Classic Nike vs UA w/nike winning.

No, I'm not arguing that's the case. I'm just surprised players (and their families) let the shoe companies drive the decisions when the shoe companies clearly don't have their best interests at heart. The goals of a major corporation and a random kid with some skills aren't exactly aligned. But hey, it is a free country and we're all free to to make good (or bad) decisions.

If Turgeon were a football coach, he might have a complaint, but in hoops? Aggie High is a football-first school, and always will be. Maryland, on the other hand, is Maryland. John Lucas, Tom McMillan, Len Elmore, Buck Williams, Albert King, Greg Manning, Adrian Branch, Walt Williams, Len Bias, Grevis Vasquez, etc. It's the ACC, and it's the fertile Washington-Baltimore-Philadelphia feeding grounds for recruits.
This move was a no-brainer.
Glad your such an expert in hoops but Texas A & M has done outstanding in basketball and draw excellent crowds. Your Aggie High putdown really is a slam to the players and coaching staff who bust their tail everyday. We are so blessed by your wonderful insight that football is king at A & M. We could not have figured that out on our own. Did you have an inside source? Maryland also likes their football - check their attendance especially when they are winning.
Good god, I'm not trying to break news by saying Aggie High is a football-first school (and I don't care if the term is a "slam" to the players and coaching staff — I'm a PonyFan, and have disliked A&M for decades, and I will continue to make fun of them, just like fans everywhere make fun of teams they don't like. Do you think the Aggies feel guilty when they make fun of the Horns?) I don't discount the fact that Aggie High has "done outstanding" in basketball, but Turgeon made no secret of the fact that he felt he got inadequate support, especially from the athletic and university administration, and that he wished he had larger crowds. That's not an industry secret — he has made it plainly clear in interviews.

From the San Antonio Express-News: Turgeon, 97-40 at A&M, was frustrated with often-lackluster crowds in Reed during nonconference play — and even during Big 12 play. He pounded his fist on an interview table after Reed was less than half full this past season for a victory over Iowa State. But Turgeon said Monday small crowds weren't the reason for his departure. “This has nothing to do with (attendance),†he said. “It wasn't about money, either. It was just a gut decision for me to try something.†Maryland is considered one of the nation's top 15 basketball jobs — and a university and its fan base that puts hoops first. The Terrapins won the national title in 2002 under Williams. A&M, like many other schools in the South, is considered a football-first university. Ross was a verbal to Maryland, playing at Montrose, for better part of a year before it all went down. Dumbest thing we ever did was put Tross in the UA sponsored Elite 24 game, after he skipped AAU. Nike pretty much forgot about him, then we showcased him, and they grabbed him back. It was ugly, and his Mom lives in Oregon, so they just had so much access.

Hey Max, Are you the new Sonny Vaccaro? Are the "answer" and have all the scoop? I would be a big boy and admit before the hire that Nike stepped in. Google Hoop Dirt, it is much more realiable that your information. You don't know jack. I was there. Go away, you're a troll that incites w/everyone.
