Great Day for Cali Mustangs

Postby RE Tycoon » Wed May 11, 2011 10:03 am

As I'm sure the media has informed you, the first Texas In-N-Out(s) open today. Having grown up in California, this is a very happy day indeed. No, it's not the best burger in the world (there are 3 or 4 burgers in Dallas alone that I would prefer including Goff's across from SMU), but it's pretty damn good and better than ANY other fast food burger out there.

I don't want to hear from you Whataburger apologists, that's just a stupid argument and you know it. This is a controversy free homage post to In-N-Out, so take your gripes to the Burger Wars thread.

When are people planning to head up to Frisco or Allen to see if the Texas version stands up? I've got some time set aside Friday when I will make the trek up to Oklahoma...sorry Frisco. After that, I'll just have to wait until they open the store closer to the bubble.

Sing it with me...In-N-Out, In-N-Out, that's what a hamburger's all about!

Take it away Huell!

Great Day for Cali Mustangs

Well said RE Tycoon. I agree on all fronts.

I was disappointed this morning to find out that they were only opening up north. Dallas is not getting In N Out today. D Magazine is a liar. Allen and Frisco are not Dallas.

One in Frisco and one Allen. They are opening a handful more in the next few months, off the top of my head Garland, Fort Worth and one by SMU on the 75 access road in the Southwestern/Caruth area. Not sure if they've started construction on the one near SMU yet, but it is on the In-N-Out website.

Count yourself very lucky. Those of us in the Houston area will be waiting even longer.

That's what you get for reading D Magazine. Rarely has so little been printed on so many glossy pages.

Admittedly, they do (or did, when I lived there) have a few decent writers and editors, but overall, the magazine is suitable for wrapping fish, lining birdcages and little else.

As for Whatburger/InAndOut ... each is absurdly overrated. Cafeteria-quality burgers, at best. (To be fair, cafeterias that adhere to state health codes wouldn't even serve Whataburger-quality "food.")

DMag tweets can be summarized by the eloquent Emmitt Smith. "We had some diamonds, but we had a lotta cow poo poo around it, and the diamonds was mixed in with the poo poo . . . it just all look like poo poo."

That always cracks me up.

So by that, do you mean that you don't think Ira Terrell should have his jersey retired?

Exactly. Pony Fans is a diamond and Harry has put cow poo poo around it leaving several threads "look like poo poo."

Five Guys gives In-N-Out a good run for their money. Not sure if Five Guys would be classified as "fast food," though.

I'm originally from Corpus Christi, where Whataburger started, and let me just say that I find the Whataburgers around here almost inedible. They are much better in South Texas, where they actually are a better-than-decent burger. I hope that In-and-Out is as good as it is in Cali, and they don't suffer the same fate as Whataburger has (lack of quality away from their "home base").

I had a great veggie burger at Five Guys. Problem is it was supposed to be a double patty burger. Very disappointing.

Yeah, Five Guys definitely is fast food. It's OK, as fast food goes. Apparently I'm the only one on here who never has tried In-N-Out - I suppose one day I will.

Glad to hear Whataburgers are better elsewhere, because the ones in Dallas (and up here in Oklahoma) are garbage.
