There are engineered plans ( long term) for the expansion of the east side to match the west side and I would assume the height restriction( if there is one) has already been legally addressed.
Another note is that the IPF will take the soccer field out for the most part ( the structure will be east/west next to the parking structure) And the new soccer field will be the current practice fields on Mockingbird.

What would happen to the Track? As on for a soccer field at Mockingbird & Bishop, it would need to be upscale with brick Georgian architecture @ that location?

There would be a limited track or fields for intra-mural between the IPF and the stadium I am guessing, and a full size track around the new soccer facility on Mockingbird. They didn't mention a 'Georgian' motif around that track as it could be completed with limited seating around the fields and NOT be an eyesore. The problem in planning was all the natural turf fields should be east/west and not north/south so that the grass would get full morning and afternoon sun in the seasons. Obviously since the IPF is indoors, there is not a problem.

Wouldn't it be great, if we regularly needed 35+k and had the capacity for 45k for big games for Texas/national schools?

I believe that if we were to be offered a spot in a BCS conference we would have to have at least a 50,000 seat capacity stadium...which is why TCU is expanding their stadium. Expanding the east side with a second level may be expensive, but it can be done and ultimately may have to be done should we be so lucky as to be invited into a BCS conference.

TCU is actually reducing seating capacity to 40,000, from what I've read.

Since the announcement:
Construction will begin immediately following TCU's final home game in the 2010 season. After construction, Amon G. Carter Stadium will have a seating capacity of 40,000 that can be expanded to more than 50,000 seats.
They were able to raise the additional money to take it to the final size expansion which will be completed after this years season. Invitation to join BE spurred the additional fund raising.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

as said before, we can get to 45k by enclosing the horseshoe, and i'm sure a deck could be put on the north endzone to get to 50k
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

We have more-than-enough room now for our 16,000 to spread out. I'm staring at plenty of empty seats right now.
