Yo--- Newbie
Get off the bus.. Dont pull the bus off into the ditch and don't gripe, unless you give a positive alternative!!!!!!! SMU's Facutly Senate have hamstung this University for DECADES and that is not joke. Coach Bennett is working HARD to get SMU back to the pack. NO we do not accept DUMMIES but we do need BIG MEN to lead the little ones. The path needs to e shown... BIG MEN.. They show the path Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
The Talent On Our Side of the FieldThe talent on our side of the field is just as good as half the teams we play!
In a handful of players, maybe do. But if you look at the roster from week to week and think we match up with opponents, then you're nuts. We have some very talented guys, that's true. But football requires depth - did you see those beasts just sitting on the bench for the little froggies? And those were the backups! We've got some big guys like Darrin Johnson and Chris Urbanus, and we've got some good athletes at the skill spots, but you need 50 or 60 legit players. Coach Bennett might be the greatest recruiter in the world - and it looks like he's pretty decent in that regard - but you simply can't stock a roster in two (and a half) recruiting classes.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
RosterQuestion - What happened to Cavan's recruits? Cavan was supposed to be a great recruiter too. Were none of his recruits suitable for Bennett? Why not? Why does SMU have to start from scratch every 4 or 5 years when no other school in the NCAA seems to have this problem?

Keep drinking, in large amounts?
Yeah, the cupboard was pretty bare and its not all Cavan's fault. He had two hands tied behind his back and did the best he could. But the past two classes put his last few years to shame. The problem is that they are young and inexperienced. If they don't get killed in the next two years, or disillusioned (and join a rock band), things will get better in the next year or so. I agree with BUS, get the big uglies in here and as many of them as possible. When we can compete in the trenches game in and game out, we'll win. As far as competing with half the teams on our schedule, we haven't played those teams yet. We played a decent Big XII team and a good TCU team that was hot on Saturday. Now come back and whine if we lose this badly to SJS. So, Captain, go have a little rum and sail off into the sunset.
