Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
I love this how everybody "claims" to have the "real" inside story.
Just a tiresome exercise.

Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
I only used it because I am worried about losing our best recruiter...We lose him and there wont be any real need to be an insider...

New Commitment/Other Breaking News
I guess we can bump this discussion in a couple of years. Someone bookmark it. We all want to get to the same place. But it's time to step past the PB types on offers - there's just no way around that if we aspire to be Top 15-20.

Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
It all comes down to some coaches are confident and work hard, other just go through the motions. We shouldn't have a single position coach that isn't an agressive and hard working recruiter. I can't believe some people have actually posted that we have a plan to only go after 4-star California prospects and sleepers in Texas. Why aren't we going after the 4-star recruits in Texas? Lack of confidence and effort!

Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
That is not close to what I said...what I said was, at the stage our program is in now, you cant spend every ounce of time and enerrgy on 4 star recruits, its just not feasible for us to land a class full of those guys right now...in a few years that will be a different story. But, I am not saying you dont target those 4 star caliber guys..of course you do. but if they are in TX, CA or Alaska is irrelevant. Whats wrong with using our most dynamic recruiter with strong strong west coast ties to go after 4 star talent while other coaches recruit what they beleive to be great football players who will help this program win.Mexmustang wrote:It all comes down to some coaches are confident and work hard, other just go through the motions. Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
We are on the list of 17 Rivals four star players. How does that compare to this time last year?

Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
There are two simultaneous issues being discussed.
1) How well we're doing in recruiting; and
2) Perceived overreliance on one recruiter.
I was addresssing the first question.

Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
If you believe number two, I can see why you'd say that.
Re: New Commitment/Other Breaking News
The frightful conversation surrounding the last couple of commitments is similar to that around Kevin Pope, Keenan Holman, Taylor Reed, Sterling Moore...people looked at their poor offer lists and were freaked out. Yes it always bothers me when we offer "projects". Gotta admit a lot of the projects have fared better than many of our more highly recruited players the last few years. All of the guys I just listed have legit shots of playing in the NFL. Might be a waste of energy to panic right now...
