Keep in mind that when he was first recruited, Lasecki reportedly was in the 260- to 270-pound range. At the time he signed, he listed his weight at 290, and when he visited an SMU practice over spring break, he looked at least that big (someone — I forget who — said he was over 300). Anyway, he looked a lot stronger in person than he does in that picture, which is weird to say about someone who looks like he could squat most SUVs.

But he didn't have any other offers when we offered and he committed. He can't be good, especially since we went after him so soon in the recruiting season.

well gaining 40-50 pounds in less than a year often leads to putting on the wrong kind of weight just like the multitude of offensive lineman coming through this program every year from high school. Hop;efully with the powerlifting that's not an issue. Its amazing-I've read numerous instructions by SMU Coaches through recent years NOT to do this but it seems to happen every year and every year several waddle through their first year out of shape and overweight. I hope Lasecki hasn't fallen into this trap of thinking you've got to be 320 by your freshman year.

His ability to comprehend logic is miserable? He is sarcastically referring to the ongoing argument that a player can't play unless he follows this board's sages' preconceived rules for getting good players.

But he forgot the corrollary that if the player is recruited by the right assistant coach then nothing else matters. :)

To be fair, I don't know that the weight was added in a year. If he was first recruited in 11th grade, and let's say he was 270 ... 30 pounds in two years isn't bad at all at that age. And I'm no scout or coach, but when he was at practice, it sure didn't look like bad weight at all.

Good-I don't know either-just saying we've had what 6-8 kids come in recently and waddle around the field because of weight put on between Senior year in high school and freshman reporting date. I'm confident the instructions from Coaches was otherwise based on numerous stories

You're right I'm sorry. He was recruited by Klemm. I take back my previous post. He will be amazing.
