Twice as funny considering she:

A.) Attends Baylor.

B.) Attends the same Baylor that employs Scott Drew and employed the infamous Dave Bliss for longer than 4 1/2 minutes.

I recall hunting with Jim Bertelson, All American at Texas. He told me about the summer he and a teammate were sent to Hawaii by some booster for a summer job to guard a beach. I asked if they carried weapons and how long they actually had to work. He said, "No, you do not understand. We were there to guard the beach. Each day we had to make sure the beach was there and make sure no one took it." $2,000/month. In the 70's.

Did any of you even listen to the interview rather than the Spin? For example I don't believe talking with an agent is even a violation until a player signs with an agent. In fact, an illegal inducement by an agent, without an acceptance, is not an NCAA violation either if he is not a representative of the university. The key excerpt about what his teammates may or may not have done was clearly a question about Agents which the host emphasized. Nobody said [deleted] boosters and agents don't offer illegal benefits at any school. An illegal benefit is an entirely different thing than an illegal recruiting inducement. Really is that the point? If it was up to me I would remove just about all alumni contact with alumni because I know there are dunbasses at every school that get their rocks off by snuggling up to football players. NFL agents and runners are the scum of the earth and I'm sure its one of the dirtiest businesses out there. As we've seen under NCAA regulations a school isn't going to get serious sanctions if they didn't have any knowledge of the benefits and they had a system of institutional control designed to track and discover violations-she was pretty clear that Texas was extremely vigilant there. The NCAA policy on illegal benefits is to force the player to repay the benefit. But have fun.

Put me in the camp of the "No one has been proven to do it to the extent that we did in the eighties" but back in the early eighties during one of our probations leading up to the DP, when all of the SWC was running rampant with illegal activity, I had some correspondence with our best friend David Berst. I gave him proof of a Texas violation and requested that they be investigated. I guess my mistake was mentioning my SMU ties because the only statement he would make was that I was foolish to think the Texas violation was at the same level as the SMU violation. I never said it was. All I pointed out was that a coach had purchased expensive cowboy boots for a recruit and thought it worthwhile looking into. Again, he said it did not warrant any investigation. Surprisingly, when Texas was investigated a few years later as more allegations arose, and subsequently put on probation, buried in the report was the admission of a coach buying cowboy boots for a recruit. The received the maximum University of Texas penalty of probation with no sanctions.
