Forgive the tirade here - isn't there another Washington Redskins fan who visits here (Whatasteve, or something like that?)
Anyway, went to the Redskins-Bears game this afternoon. Pretty decent game, both teams played awfully hard, etc. It was actually closer than I feared it might.
Anyway, the Skins stopped the Bears with 25 or 30 second left, forcing a punt (actually a free kick, since the Bears voluntarily took a safety). Anyway, Chicago punts to Washington, and the ball was fielded by Eric Metcalf. I realize the Skins needed a miracle to get downfield for a score, but instead of either running as hard as he could straight upfield, or sprinting out of bounds to stop the clock, the IDIOT LONGHORN (Metcalf) waved the ball around, as if to fake a cross-field lateral pass. He didn't throw it, but by waving it around, he loosened his control on it, and when he got drilled, he fumbled. What the hell was he thinking? What the hell do they teach those morons down in Austin? I might be able to forgive if he was a rookie, but DAMN, Metcalf has been in the NFL since the smart George Bush was in the White House. What is he, 36 years old or something? What a [deleted].
Can't blame the whole loss on him, of course, but he fumbled the ball somewhere near midfield. With Tony Banks' arm strength, it wasn't impossible to get the ball to the end zone. (Granted, with Banks' accuracy, or lack of accuracy, there's no guarantee the ball would have come down in bounds - or even in FedEx Field - but at least he has the gun to get it there.) And with the safety the Bears took, that made the margin 5 points. So if Banks somehow had thrown a touchdown pass, bingo - the Skins pull the upset. But thanks to Eric the Idiot, that wasn't possible. The guy's too old to be that stupid.
Sorry to vent here, but I was curious - anyone know who was the UT coach when Metcalf played? Whoever it was deserves to have his whistle and clipboard taken away, because he's a terrible teacher.
