Re: JEFF REINEBOLD THURS AM
All you are doing is comparing teams that recruit 3rd level talent against other teams that recruit 3rd level talent. How do those players do against first level talent(Texas, A&M) or 2nd level talent(TCU, Tech, Baylor). They get their [deleted] handed to them just like Alabama did to June Jones in the Sugar Bowl after he kicked that third level talent all season in the watered down WAC. What's SMU's record against first level or even 2nd level talent? You don't want to know.

Re: JEFF REINEBOLD THURS AM
It seems to me that, even though there are always exceptions to the rule, we have no choice as fans but to go by the old tried and true method of third party recruiting rankings. I *would* be interested in some data on the degree to which June Jones recruits have or haven't beaten the recruiting rankings system. He certainly seems to incorporate nontraditional methods for determining very precise fit to his system -- and therefore may be better at discovering true diamonds in the rough.

I think that it maybe too early to make that call (study). Most of the players that have overachieved were Phil's recruits. This year we will start to see what diamonds in the rough develop under June. Perhaps Junes biggest "find" is our current qb. But, our surprising offensive line is Phil's. June has others of course, which he seems to find out of no where, such as our jc recruits and Margus Hunt. This year there should be more. It will be interesting to watch--which is why college football beats the NFL for me.

Re: JEFF REINEBOLD THURS AM
good point about these guys being Bennett's recruits, but who gets credit for developing them or inspiring them to develop themselves. From where I sit, JJ and team have done wonders for improving the culture and mindset. Now we just need to keep moving forward year over year. We are going into year 4 gang. Did anyone expect things to dramatically change before year 5 at best?

Agree, someone's coached up Bennett's recruits--obviously the current staff has done a great job. Just saying a study on Jone's recruits vs. the ratings maybe premature.

Plus: Zach Line, Chris Banjo, Ja'Gared Davis, Taylor Reed, Keenan Holman, etc. ... June Jones recruits, one and all.Mexmustang wrote:... June has others of course, which he seems to find out of no where, such as our jc recruits and Margus Hunt...

I think these camps are as much about contact and establishing credibility with the local coaches as much as discovering athletes.

Interesting story at StLToday.com about Beckham that sounds just like Michael Oher's as depicted in the movie The Blind Side.
