People swear by that place. Members of my family and some of my best friends love North Main - but I've eaten there about 4 times and it has never been very good - not on my list at all. Bad timing, I guess.

My opinion may be colored by the facts that it is (or at least was) operated by the volunteer fire department and is all you can eat. I like the ambience too. Good place to byob and have some good, and plentiful, food.

What about Randy White's BBQ? I'm going to the one in Frisco for lunch tomorrow.

I don't know but I was a fan of Randy White's on the old restaurant row back in the day. What's it now, Clay Cooley? Spearmint Rhino maybe?

Hit Randy White's in Frisco for lunch yesterday. Ribs were huge and full of meat. Brisket was tender. Jalapeno sausage was spicy. Pulled pork was great, too.

Potato salad was average. Cobbler was fresh.

Overall, I thought it was good.

Yeah, I couldn't go for the chopped beef, but I heard it was good.

The only Underwood's I know of is in Brownwood. Has been there for a million years. Used to be one in Waco, but it closed. The BBQ is supposedly pit smoked. It is kept on steam tables slathered in a tomato type sauce. Ribs, chicken, and somethng they call a steak. Not traditional sliced brisket like you are probably used to eating. They have a bunch of sides, serviceable fried chicken and cfs, and three different cobblers. Serve yourself. And they keep roaming around the dining room with a basket of hot yeast rolls.

I travel all over the state and have eaten at a couple of rural town Hard 8s. Both were ridiculously expensive for what they were: Indedible/dr meats of all varieties. The sides were ridiculously bad. If you have a good experience at a Dallas area store let me know so I can give it a try.

Agreed, Meshacks is great, no frills real deal SMOKED bbq. As for the sauce on the side though.
