ESPN rankings

Post by SMU21TCU10 »

Has Robert Lewis as a 4* and Daijuan Stewart a mid to high 3*

http://insider.espn.go.com/college-foot ... fid%3d2567

Thought this was interesting since Stewart is unranked and Lewis is a 3 * on Rivals

Because Scout is owned by ESPN, one would presume Lewis will be a Scout 4* by the time it's all said and done.

Scout is owed by Fox. I think the Scout owned by EPSN (Actually I thinks it Scouts but I may be wrong) is a different service than the Pony Stampede Scout we know.

True. Scout.com is owned by Fox. ESPN owns something called "Scouts, Inc."

I agree with Robert Lewis being a 4 Star and Daijuan Stewart at a high 3 Star. The rest of their scores for our recruits are a joke.

What scores do you consider a joke? A score of 45 means the player has not been evaluated

Well, WR Gabriel Marks is a 3 Star on here instead of 4 to start with. Based on what I have seen on his video's that is clearly wrong. Marks is a 4 if not under rated at 4. His high school coach calls Marks one of the best receivers in the country. Two of our other 3 Star Rival recruits are downgraded tp 2 Stars each here. Again, clearly wrong after looking at their video.

This is certainly not an argument one way or the other on rankings but I do not see how anyone can rate a player on a video unless you know the competition against which he is playing. First you know that only the best plays are going to be on the video and if the competition was much weaker, slower, and more inept, you could always make an average player look great. I assume this is why coaches like to get the kids into camps before offering if possible.

Again this is a personal statement on my inability to draw any conclusions from a video against unknown competition. I can see technique, agility, and football presence, but again, the level of competition is what would be most important to me.

I am not saying Marks is not a 4 star..because he is a great talent and I am THRILLED to have him as a mustang...but you are really basing part of your argument on his high school coach saying he is one of the best WR in the country? You don't think he might have a bit of a bias? Yes Two of our other rivals 3 stars are 2 stars on ESPN...rivals throws around 3 stars pretty generously...Fact of the matter is, you can have 3 different services/analysts look at a recruit and come up with 3 different grades...its just the name of the game

I agree, I just disagree with some of ESPNs ratings. I just mentioned what Marks HS Coach said, but had said I believe he is a 4 Star or better based on watching his video. Also, doesn't Marks play at the highest high school level in California ? That was my understanding.

I think he has been an MVP at his position at about 3-4 recruiting combines

Do these scouting combines involve any real football? Or just underwear olympics?
