Nice front page article in The Austin Statesman Sports Section about All-Centex Team defensive end and SMU commit from Round Rock Stony Point.

Good article. I'd love to see footage on him versus Euless Trinity.

Of all of our commitments at this point, this is the one that leaves me scratching my head. I trust the coaches and this offer may have been a means to make inroads at this particular school, but I don't understand how you offer a kid who has only started one varsity game. But then again, USC offered an eigth grader.

I grew up in the Austin area and was never named to the All Cen-Tex team and had offers from most of the SWC, WAC, and some of the Big 8. it's possible this kid is just better than we assume. I'm pulling for him.

The bet is obviously on his potential. That's a lot of risk to take. Hopefully it works out.

"After helping lead the JV to a 10-0 record, Cramer was bumped up to the varsity roster for the playoffs, and he played sparingly on defense and special teams during the next few weeks. When the Tigers advanced to the state semifinals, though, Cramer was promoted to a starting spot just in time to face Euless Trinity's massive offensive line"

That is an impressive paragraph.
Just send 'da money.

Leading the JV to an undefeated season is very impressive. Shows the leadership qualities he has.

There are complaints about other commits that do not have any other offers or only have offers from D1-AA schools, UNT, Louisiana Tech, etc., but we are talking about how impressive a kid is who could barely earn playing time on his own high school team. JV? Maybe we use start giving academic scholarships to kids with all A's in elementary school. Recruit the kid if he has that much potential, wait and see what he can do on varsity and then offer.

Check out the other ten threads devoted to how much of a reach he is. Let's remember to bump these threads in three years whether he's an all American or can't play - we'll see then what kind of talent evaluators we have on staff.

I'm intrigued by the fact that despite him playing on the JV team, the Statesman identified him as a key player this year. Maybe our coaches aren't the only ones who see some real potential there. Let's hope.

How do you know all our coaches agreed on giving him a scholarship?

People have such short memories...

We can all agree this SMU team looks pretty solid...SMU Starters:

Cole Beasley: 1 other offer - Air Force
Zach Line: 1 other offer - Robert Morris
Blake McJunkin: 2 other offers - Air Force, Navy
Torlan Pittman: 0 Offers
Marqus Frazier: 2 other offers - North Texas, Florida Int.
Ryan Smith: 0 offers
JG Davis: 2 - Barlor, Liousiana Tech

ok...you get the point. Get it!?

Are you also going to list the diamonds in the rough that did not make it? Also, are you saying that all those players you listed are so good that could push for a starting job for any college in the country? And those are 7 players over 4 classes. We have about 7 or 8 players in this one class alone that fit those diamond in the rough descriptions. Too many for one class. Remember for every diamond in the rough that works out there are 5 other diamonds in the rough that you have spent a scholarship on that do not work out.

It'd look more solid if the center listed could snap the ball to the QB properly...

Fine you're going to make me do this:

Sterling Moore -- 5 crap 1AA schools
Kyle Padron -- 0 Offers
Taylor Reed -- 0 Offers
Richard Crawford -- 2 1AA offers

Get the point?? Our staff can evaluate talent. Do players with more offers/stars give more talent to the team yes, absolutly. But we've been improving in recruiting every year. And when don't get the stars, our staff does a damn good job at evaluating talent. AND developing talent. That's my perspective through 3+ years experience watchining June and his staff, and there's not a damn thing you can do to change it.
