This is like the Sagarin approach to college rankings. The hierarchy of Texas higher education is as follows:

1. Rice
T2nd: SMU and UT-Austin
3. A&M
4. Baylor
5. TCU
Back off Warchild seriously.

academically they are not a concern of ours. We need to worry about closing the gap between us and Vanderbilt/Duke etc.. We dont waste time looking in the rear view mirror

Perfectly fair to have Trinity up there...that's an excellent school, as is Austin College

Speaking of accreditation, have you looked at SMU's Journalism and Education programs lately?

TCU is not an academic competitor for SMU. The caliber of students, global reach and scope of alumni base, respect and prestige from publications, etc. are all heavily in SMU's favor. I agree with the previous poster who said our real competitors are Vanderbilt, Duke, Emory, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and Northwestern. We are not there yet but we have left TCU WAY behind. In the next 10 years SMU will be a Top 30-40 national institution. Too much evidence suggests it with the capital improvements, the boom of Dallas, and SMU's level of visibility.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Frogs love to point to their journalism program when discussing academic standing. I will see your journalism and education programs and raise you with Cox and Dedman. No offense to the moderators of this board or any other fan website, but journalism is dead. Newspapers are antiquated and tell me when was the last time you watched a local news cast. It seems to me that most people get their news online and most of that news comes from blogs and other sources. Just my opinion, but your journalism degree may as well be written on Charmin Ultra Soft.

If you want to come to our board and talk smack about football, we have little to offer as a retort. All we can say is wait a couple of more years. But you should think long and hard before comparing the schools academically.
