And based upon what we saw last year on special teams (specifically during the Navy game), this situation would not surprise me at all.

I have no idea about Gansz as a coach, but it's not much of a stretch to say he'll be a far better fit running the special teams unit.

If he's half the coach his dad was, we're in good hands. I think we're going to be fine when the season starts.

Football is a field position game. If you're in inconsistent in the kicking game, you're inconsistent period.

I'm in the camp of every program must have a full-time special teams coach.

Heaven knows that during the Bennett era, you could always count on 3 kicking game mistakes per game that would cost SMU points just about every time.

SMU ought to love him for admittance since he'll help our diversity numbers. SMU LOVES to bump those up since we're uhhh not exactly a melting pot.

Gansz was the one. Why did he leave his various jobs? Do the pros pay less than the college teams? Some of this just doesn't add up.

I think he was encouraged to find new employment.

Is Loftus really that bad? What's his issue?

One place they could look for a kicker.

Not all of them are Texas guys, but they are good, probably the top 30. If you scroll through the kickers you will see the punters. If you click on a name the pictures and videos show up. Some have commited and some are mulling offers and some schools are waiting a little longer on their offers.

That's a nice list. Quite a drop off since our NFL kicker Thomas Morestead. Maybe they'll work this out and find someone on campus. Problem is they need someone asap.
