Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? When Big 12 goes...expect Mizzu and KU to be gone....
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? There is no reason for A&M to be tethered to UT. Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, have all thrived financially while playing in a conference other than the one their big state flagship institutions belong to. I think it would be a great move for them to play in what is probably the best conference in the nation year in and year out. They might not be competitive every year, but neither is Arkansas, and they are very happy with their SEC paychecks.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? Not what I hear, just so you know....
Mizzu and KU are extremely active, maybe more than A&M
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?More "I heard this from a guy stuff" but my friend well informed with the OU program just sent me a text that said
"A&M sent in their letter to leave the big 12 today" I will try to see if he can give me a source or link
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? This could all be very good for us as we never had any shot of moving to anywhere but MWC...
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?
I read that somewhere on the scout TTech board as well. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?PonyPlayer4-
I will do my best to refrain from any more "heard this from a guy" posts per se. Seeing as I am surrounded by Aggies who talk continuously, it is easy to sit back and listen and then watch to see if it comes true. With astounding accuracy, the things two of them propose do in fact come to pass. Both are lettermen, one from the Bryant days, well connected and heeled, and are anything but the stereotype 'brag aggies'. That said, it makes sense that A&M will choose to chart a course that is best for itself, apart from Texas. Some Aggies will bemoan that day...it seems many will not. My loyalty is to SMU, and my hope is that we chart the landscape and move briskly if the opportunity presents itself. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?Well put peruna81. Go Ponies!
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I didn't mean that as a dig at anyone because right now it is all we can seem to go by. But more of that stuff.
Apparently the SEC is drafting a formal invitation right now, and A&M hasn't sent a letter to the big 12 yet. Expect an announcement in the next few weeks, most likely by the first game.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?I think at this point in order to save face A&M should leave the Big 12. They've been the most vocal and outspoken in opposition to the LHN and they need to either shut up and accept the deal or move on. Without question the consensus among their alumni that I've spoken with is that they want to be in the SEC and keep the series with Texas as a nonconference game.
Without Texas, the Big 12-2 will die. I could see OU and OSU making a joint effort w/ A&M to bolt to the SEC and leaving the remaining members to fight for scraps. The real question is does what is left of the conference try and match it together with some combination of SMU, Houston, Tulsa, or does it totally disband. The dream scenario for us is the backfilled Big 12 inviting us, but I think a more likely scenario is CUSA West being able to pluck the dead turkeys from the Big 12 and maybe reform as a new conference. If we added Baylor that would be another fun, local game for our fans to travel to. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger?Ok so i dont start rumurs but i dont mind talking about them once its out there here is a good one.Texas tech doesnt want their game with UT on the LHN so espn is giving them crap saying do it or lose more games on espn
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? And it would pi$$ off Baylor to no end.
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? If the remaining Big 12 was to stay intact after A&M and Texas leave what happens to the BCS designation? If they add a few schools, say SMU and Houston what does that do to the BCS designation? If all of this was to play out would TCU want to tell the Big East we are backing out and joining the Big 12 assuming they would be asked to join.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: A&M to SEC talks getting stronger? The Missouri to BE talks are more than rumor, KU and KSU are likely to be included as well. At first blush this doesnt seem to be much of an academic fit, but it certainly consistent with the BE being a great basketball conference and mediocre football conference.
PONY UP!
