What would happen if no team agreed to play on the LHN? What if UT went independent and no one would play them? Would they take their little orange football and go home? Let's hope that is the case.

Money talks, bull [deleted] walks. They'll find someone to play them on LHN- even if it is a team like Rice. And they'll find opponents to play them if they go independent. Remember, it's all about the money in the end and Texas makes a lot of it- not only for themselves, but for the teams on TV with them as well.

A reporter that follows A&M was on Galloway yesterday stated A&M is 90% chance they will be in SEC next year. Take it for what it is worth.

The ACC has to get better or it could lose a team or two. It will likely be looking at Syracuse and WVU. The BE has to deal with potential ACC defections and restocking if they do. That means looking at B12 leftovers like KU, KSU and Mo. OU who knows what they'll do. That leaves ISU, OSU TT, Baylor, UT. Does UT go indy? If they do, then what do ISU,TT, Baylor, OSU do? Perhaps they look at CUSA west and MWC east and start counting noses. They talk to SMU, TCU, Houston, Memphis, UNM, and BYU and try and put together something that is worth watching and could keep its BCS $$$$. Add in the problem that to get an auto-bid to the NCAA. The MWC and CUSA would of course talk as well about some sort of merger. I love summer. Lots of dead kittens.

Watch the SEC put a chamionship game in Jerry-World. Yes, they will do it, even just once, for money and exposure, tix sold be damned. Watch Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vandy, and all SEC teams walk into our recruits living rooms and walk away with them - YOU THINK COMPETITION FOR RECRUITS IS TOUGH NOW? All they need is an in. A&M would provide that to them.
WAKE UP. WE DON'T WANT THIS!! THE ONLY WAY THIS WOULD HELP US WOULD BE IF THIS DIRECTLY INFLUENCED US GETTING INTO A MAJOR CONFERENCE, AND EVEN IF THAT DID HAPPEN, IT'S STILL A MIXED BAG.
I think there is some truth to these statements, but I will still take admission into a BCS conference any day even if a lot more recruiting difficulties come with it. Besides, its not like we are really a factor in Texas recruiting now.

The SEC already Recruits in Texas and pretty effectively at that (where was the QB for national championship Alabama from?). Also the SEC already has huge exposure in TX, you don't think people in this football obssed state don't turn the dial to CBS during their Saturday? Texas schools will always have an advantage over SEC schools because they are in state. Fist these kids might have already been to the campus multiple times, parents and friends have attended the Texas universities as well as other kids from their highschool. The biggest advantage TExas has is you don't have to travel across the counry for your family to watch you play. youo can drive to almost any conferance game in the Big 12-2 form anywhere in texas and be back in time for work on Monday, hard to do that going to florida, or SC, or GA, or even LSU. These kids want to live in Texas after they graduate and Texas schools offer way better oppertunities in that market.

Some strong stuff going around right now. A lot of media types saying "no way" just yesterday are now saying a move is about to go down. Is it just talk to drive up hits on their site? We shall see. We stand upon the brink of a precipice. We peer into the abyss -- we grow sick and dizzy.

I have no idea whether the rumors are accurate or not, but, if it were to occur, the subsequent actions by schools, whether in Big XII, SEC, Big East, CUSA and even MWC could be fascinating to watch or benefit from if SMU is put into play.
My sense is this could only help us. I don't believe the BE will look at us and, if they expanded by necessity or choice, they would want Big XII schools such as MO, KS and KSU or try to rob ACC, which is less likely. Their fall back is UCF type schools.
With UT going independent or remaining in a reduced XII, then we might see our opening to enter a BCS conference, either a modified Big XII or MWC, which absorbs Big XII refugees and gets auto-bid.
In summary, a A&M move to SEC becomes a catalyst for what could be the last of major BCS conference moves.

I would not want to go to the MWC. CUSA is now regarded by some as the best non BCS conference. Plus after this year the MWC will be really weakened when TCU leaves.

I agree, unless it is our only chance to get into a BCS Auto-Bid, i.e. stronger MWC gets Big XII BCS membership. I would prefer Big XII Bid, if they survive somehow and stay in BCS system.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/colleg ... g-had_.eceGov. Rick Perry provided interesting insight Wednesday into the rumors that have Texas A&M eventually leaving the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference.
Asked by The Dallas Morning News ’ statehouse reporters about SEC speculation regarding A&M, Perry responded: "I'll be real honest with you. I just read about it the same time as y'all did. ... As far as I know, conversations are being had. That's frankly all I know. I just refer you to the university and the decision makers over there."
The key phrase is “As far as I know, conversations are being had.†The response by the governor, a former Aggie yell leader and likely future presidential candidate, went beyond the Twitter and message board speculation that erupted in the last 48 hours.
