New Graphic Shades for Gerald J. Ford Stadium

Postby wewiii » Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:19 pm

I just wanted to share with you a video that shows the new motorized shades over at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. It is pretty good looking. We enjoyed working on this project.

Pretty neat. Wonder if they could put a solar screen - or even an umbrella - over my 4 seats.

Those look cool, and it looks like you guys did a good job. I'm just curious about the necessity of the shades. Are they trying to save on energy costs for non-game-day events?
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

That area gets pretty hot in the AM with it facing East. And they really needed to cut back on fading. The Stadium Club has some really cool wallpaper in there with images of the sports greats. So that really needed protection.

It looks awesome up there.

Well...I will be in Section 134 at the games. I am always there. They are saying that they will raise them long before the games. Maybe even the night before.

So, if something catastrophic happened...it would have to be a major power loss to the entire stadium...either I or my installers would hand roll them up long before kickoff. But that isn't going to happen.

Not worried about it....sure it has been planned out. Looks good.

I do wish they would figure out a way to get the windows to open.

That's kind of what I was wondering.

These things look really cool — kudos to wewiii and crew who made them — but if you can't see through the things, are they there to be viewed only when the stadium is empty? Presumably, when there are people in the stands who can see them, there will be people inside wanting to see out.

Forgive me if I'm missing something really obvious here....

They do look cool, though. I want those in my office!

The Stadium Club is currently renovating the facility. During the near decade that the club has been in use, the direct sun has faded the interior and has caused damage. It would be the same with your house if you had chosen not to use window coverings. Your furniture and carpet/hardwoods would fade and look odd over time.

They are doing some nice things in there and want them to last. Not to mention the cost of air conditioning. You could feel an immediate difference when the shades went in.

These solar shades are there to protect the interior for 98% of the time when it is not in use. They cut the heat and stop the damage.

You can see through the shades. However, you would not want to watch a game with them down.

They didn't buy the shades for the graphics feature.
The idea of using digital graphics to spell "SMU Mustangs" was just an easy add-on feature.

Those look really cool. Thanks for using the correct pony also!

Now, your choice for the music bed on the video. . .
