Commuter schools/grads working at 7-11 or Walgreens/ugly campuses - umm yeah, you're right.
I guess you are saying no difference. Except UH has a better football team and UNT has a btter basketball team.

You guys are homo's. BTW - Most beat writers that I'm seeing are eyeing SMU with Houston. Big12 is not staying at 10. TCU is stuck. Louisville is not coming after their AD's remarks today. So stop the whining and hit the bottle. SMU is coming as well. Book it. http://blog.chron.com/sportsjustice/201 ... nvitation/

Sobering? Yes we have a chance to move up, but just where did you guys think we were? We've spent 20 years being UNT. Not trying to win, making horrible hiring choices, and building a stadium thinking it will magically fix things. People won't forget that.
When someone looks at us, what do they see?
Location? Good, but we don't deliver it. Fans? Very few. Tradition? In the modern era, losing. National perception? See above. Commitment to football? 20 years of not trying, and 3 years of trying. We've not exactly proven that we are here to stay. And where's our IPF? Winning? How many winning seasons have we had in the last 20 years? Bowl games?
All we have to sell is potential, but going to someone and saying "hey, we've made progress in the last 3 years after not trying for 20", how good does that make you feel? When your employee comes in for his yearly review and says "I know I surfed the internet all day for for 11 months, but the last few weeks I've really been working hard" do you shower him with a raise and a promotion? Is he going to keep working hard?
And when our greatest asset - rich alumni, is used to build a stadium like Ford, nice in that it is new, but very small time and unimpressive looking to recruits and casual potential fans, can you really count that asset as something SMU will utilize correctly?
We've spent 20 years PROVING that we belong in the toilet with UNT and LaTech, but it's OK, because Dr. Turner is a good Christian man, so don't question him.

Opportunity is what we have. Some people can't stand it.

That isn't worth our time. I'm saying if all goes to hell and we are left without a chair when the music stops, then should we really associate at all with those kind of schools (except Rice) ?
This assumes that the entirety of CUSA disbands which does not seem likely. The Big XII will likely not survive this mess. Assuming that conferences folds, which seems more likely than CUSA, there will be schools looking for homes--i.e. Baylor, OSU, Iowa State, Kansas and K State. The only potential defectors from CUSA seems to be ECU, UCF, UH, Memphis, and SMU. I would be schocked if all of us found BCS homes. The possible stops for the above-mentioned schools are the Big XII and Big East--the two most vulnerable conferences. In my opinion, moving into either of those conferences is dicey at best. When the thing blows up entirely, which it will, I could see a conference formed with the best leftovers from the MWC, Big XII, CUSA, and the Big East. If we miss the cut, it is more likely that we are playing in a conference with the likes of UH, Baylor, TT, Boise, Nevada, Tulsa, and possibly OSU. And if the ACC gobbles up the Big East, we might even have TCU. Personally I doubt all of this will happen, but this scenario seems more likely than a combination of SMU, Rice, and fluffers from the WAC and Sun Belt.

Honestly, I'm just tired of morons writing garbage on the subject...that isn't a slight against anyone on here. I just had to suffer through an article where there are two 16 super conferences, two 14 team conferences, and a leftovers MWC that includes Rice, Tulane, Memphis, and no SMU.

You're right BOB, SMU shouldn't whine...but not because they're going to the UT 10+2. I still believe SMU is better off assessing the landscape after the dominos fall rather than hopping into a conference held together with orange-colored duct tape.
I disagree. Get in before all the shifting is done and TV contracts are ironed out for years. Don't want a repeat of the death of the SWC.

ShockerBOB,
You nailed it. Too much uncertainty down the road to not take this opportunity and run with it. If nothing else you get 2 or 3 years to prove you can hang with the big boys and put butts in the seats. If we have a home schedule like this do you think Ford will sell out?
Oklahoma Baylor Texas Tech Oklahoma State Houston non-conference game
The money to expand Ford to 45K could be raised overnight if it meant Big 12.

Jerry Jones' wife is also on the SMU Board of Trustees. I promise you the chance to play games at JerryWorld and provide them with more $ would be most welcomed.

So you're afraid of competition. Great. Lets stay in CUSA and watch the world collapse around us. I'd rather watch us play Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, etc. than Rice, Tulane, UTEP, and Tulsa.

Best part of this article is that he refers to Deloss Dodds as the Big 12 commissioner. Freudian slip or just accepting reality?

We don't have that luxury. This is going down NOW. Nut up and join the fight. We have a 2.75M head coach. That would make him one of the highest paid coaches in the Big 12 now. You afraid of going to Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, or Baylor? We could hang. Might even surprise a few people along the way.

How about Houston not go 5-7 and not make a bowl? Sh*t happens. One game does not define us. The progress we've made in the last 3 years is just scratching the surface of what we can do.
