Estimated attendance for San Jose game?Does anyone have any estimations on the attendance for the game this week? I hope a decent crowd turns out since it is parents weekend. I would be thrilled if we can get over 20K. Any thoughts?
I bet the turnout will surprise some folks. We gave a good showing the last time out at home, and this is a good chance to see the Ponies pick up a win. I'll say 18K - I hope.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
who knows. it's Homecoming? Or Family Weekend? I'd say we get between 10k and 22k. How's that?
I doubt I can find takers for my 3 (of 4) tickets...at least I can lay down and stretch out when the band plays. Ah...
It is "Family Weekend" - Homecoming is not until the Tulsa game on November 6. Hopefully we will have 15K for this game. A crowd of 10-12K is probably more realistic.
Does anybody know how many season ticket holder we have?
I would say estimating that is quite tricky. ALL smu students are season ticket purchasers. On top of that I would say around 4 to 7 thousand.
If you put the 5000 students in that is 9 to 12 thousand. This is all a guess based upon past numbers that I knew. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Let's just say this. It is not yet a sell out so anyone wanting to go should be able to get a ticket, and should do so. That is the only reason I can see for guestimating the attendance. There will be a count during the game and then all the pessimists can come out and declare we are going to be dropped out of 1A and the optimists will look at the days ahead. Just go to the games and everything else will take care of itself. I will be there so my guess is "at least 1".
I doubt SMU has ever in its existence had 5,000 students show up. We will be lucky to have a thoudand students including the band, cheerleaders and pom-pom girls at this one. Plus its Sat Nite and they got better things to do. Still don't understand why we are playing a Nite game in late September.

34,689 So.. We only need about 10,077 per to keep our status. Woo - Hoo!! Next year, we have TCU and Baylor...and the Rice/Hou game should draw more than a SJSU or BSU or Nevada game I'd figure.
Re:
Where'd you get that figure? The "official" attendance, which reflects tix sold? I guarantee you there weren't that many butts in seats. I saw from the east stands what must have been a couple thousand empty seats in the west side season ticket sections. Subtract a couple thousand and redo your math.
Re:
34,689 was the official attendance both posted on the jumbotron during the game, and in the paper the next day. Did you check out the south end zone. Very full....not packed, but a good size croud there. I approached the Marketing Department on the day of the game for some extra tickets and they had none anywhere except in the south endzone grass ![]()
15001, I think they're having that Boy Scout campout on the field after the game. That was good for 3000 or so last year against UTEP.
