Fellow SMU alum Chip Brown

Postby Mitch McConnell » Sun Aug 14, 2011 5:59 pm

End the speculation, the debate as to what this all means for A&M and the Big 12 and whatnot and keep up with what he is reporting on orangebloods.

The content is free.

And if history is any lesson, Brown has this story down pretty well. He kicked ESPN's butt last year on the near collapse and given his vast sources, he is in the know.

I haven't really entered anything into this discussion since I posted the A&M leaving thing because it was pretty pointless. I'm tracking what our good alum has done to make this a real story.

His stuff has been excellent.

You want the real deal? Read Chip.

Here is one of his latest articles. He appears close to the on-going dynamics and reports it will be 21 days until the Aggies are accepted into the SEC.

Good articles, adds some sense to the situation. But, it could have been handled much better by the Aggies. Too much information, way too soon.

I you were a conference president in the Big 12, would you let them leave unscathed or hit them for the full $30,000,000 in penalties?

A&M is not the problem, but their pending move is a reaction to one. UT is the problem! Can the Horns accelerate their revenue production and increase their exposure single-handedly and expect no one to object?

just a matter of time before the Big XII crumbles

SEC will decide whether they want 14 or 16 and have the deals lined up in advance of any formal invites

In 1950, the ratio of the average executive's paycheck to the average worker's paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one.

What the University of Texas is doing to college football is merely a reflection of our times.

As a conservative Republican, I am turned off by both of the above.

So in a company, if the average workers pay is $25,000, the average executives pay is $7,500,000!!!
When will I start feeling stimulated??
