Of course it is. But is the East going to sue the West if Auburn comes over? FU*K NO!! I'm not saying they say 'yes'. But tell me that Turner and Orsini have the stones to make the calls. Tell me they realize that 25-30 MILLION A YEAR is now on the table and they have the manhood to make a play for it, especially when they are out NOTHING if they don't get it. DAMNIT. I DONT expect them to get it, but I DO expect them to TRY - THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE PAID FOR - TO LEAD.

I'm going to try to Natalie Portman but I doubt if asking her improves my chances above zero.
Back off Warchild seriously.

No, by all means, stand over with the wallflowers and eye the Thetas. You can stand there and talk about what snobby biatches they are and wonder why the winners, i.e. the guys who TALK TO THEM, get to date and marry them. Right. Enjoy hiding in the outhouse with Marshall. I hear NTSU is begging to get in. AGAIN: TRY. NOBODY, LEAST OF ALL ME, IS GOING TO BLAME STEVE O. FOR NOT GETTING IN. BUT GO FOR THE BIG SCORE. 'PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY. SCORE A HUNDRED POINTS AGAINST ME. BUT LET ME KNOW YOU'RE STILL TRYING' - Sound Familiar? FU-K YOU GUYS. I'm e-mailing Steve O. and President Turner, and it will be polite and respectful. But they need to make a play for this.

Dude I was referring to your signature line about porches. I'm not sure how that translates into me hanging out in outhouses.

LOL. I am very, very sorry. I thought you meant porches, as in the way TCU refers to their football team. My bad, gotta fix that spelling, my government worker but owns a Nissan. No, no, Porsches, like the car: .jpg) The old joke about SMU - Parties, Ponies, Porsches, and right before the death penalty, Probation. Thanks for the heads up.

Leopold,
You have a supporter in me.
Chances are remote, everyone agrees with that, but it is worth the effort. More importantly, I like your expectations for our school.
Some of you 'Pony Fans' have an amazingly low opinion of SMU and I don't get it.
I will argue against ANY of you that if you place SMU in the SEC, after 6 years we would be more competitive than Mizzou, NC State, Memphis, Louisville, West Virginia or some of the other schools people are mentioning. Think University of Miami.
Sure, attendance is an issue, put as I posted a couple of months ago:
While you criticize SMU for its attendance problems (can’t say I blame you) and feel that it is a deal breaker for BCS membership, I doubt you would ever question Indiana’s right to same BCS membership.
This from ESPN Indiana has averaged 40,478 fans through its first five home contests and will easily surpass that number for Saturday's rivalry game against Purdue (Big Ten Network, 3:30 p.m. ET). The attendance is way up from 2008 (31,782 average) and will top the 40,000 mark for the first time since 1992.

I will say this in regards to the original post... it would prove that SMU is thinking down the road. The key here is JJ. Does he plan on staying another 10 years or will he retire in a few years? Because if wants to stay and coach, this team will become a dominant team. He has everything here he lacked in Hawaii; total support, an AD that wants to win, and the state of Texas to recruit from. How would we fare in the SEC now? Well, probably better than their bottom tier teams, but in time... that's the key here... in time, w/ JJ, this team could be something special and powerful. Does it make sense right now? No. But 5-10 years from now... yes, it does. As far as fans and traveling... win... and they will come. The Hawaii Bowl proved that.

Place U of Miami in C-USA and after 10 years I suspect their road game attendance would be on par with ours. They have the same issues with attendance as we do. Theirs is simply masked because of their BCS status and ours is amplified due to our non-BCS status.

Let's just assume that Turner already talked to the SEC and leave it at that. We will never know if he did or not anyway.

this is a BCS conversation, not a BB one. Indiana plays Ohio State, Michigan and the rest of the Big 10 and can still can't get to 40k????? Let us play the OU's and Texas' of the world and I suspect we top 40k.
