. You're quoting EJ holland. What's your personal observation? SK does have a good arm. Hard to pick up an offense simply from study and watching film. Notnsaying he's going to be able to figure it out bunt probably too early to write him off. If he pans out, then you have a pretty decent 3 deep in 2012. Pretty early to write off the possibility of signing a good qb in feb 2012Stlhockeyguy02 wrote:Bet a beer SK never sees any significant playing time and never challenges for the starting job.

Re: Recruiting QBs
Actually I drew that conclusion and phrased it myself. I remember Mr. Holland giving his thoughts, so if he said the same thing, cool. I'm basing my assertion on the fact he lost an entire year to a serious bought with mono, lost a lot of strength, time with the team, time to learn the playbook, etc. Yes, all those things can be worked on diligently when healthy, but it's quite tough to be set back that much. From multiple practice reports, and observations from multiple individuals, he has made poor throws, and is struggling mightily to pick up the offense. If I'm wrong, cool, I'm not ever-present. I'm betting he gets recruited over, or decides to take a shot at a school where he can have the chance to be the #1 QB.Alaric wrote:. You're quoting EJ holland. What's your personal observation? Re: Recruiting QBs
Apparently we offered this 2013 QB Eddie Printz a scholarship...
but unfortunately it looks like he is getting a lot of attention from a lot of big time schools.
so I guess we are going after some big time QB talent...

Re: Recruiting QBs
and of course it's klemm going after him
he has offers from arkansas, cinnci, kentucky, NC state and SMU.
So far both rivals and scout say he has medium interest in every school he is considering (22 of them including big time programs like Bama, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, Wisconsin)

Re: Recruiting QBs
The rap on JJ's QBs at the next level is that they were system guys. Don't know if that is fair, but it is what it is.

Re: Recruiting QBs
Based upon our recruiting of qb's maybe it isn't the system, but the quality of the basic raw matterial. The system gets more results will less quality.

Re: Recruiting QBs
There is something to that argument. Our system actually increases rather than decreases your chances of getting to the next level.

Maybe we should go after Preston Dewey, who might be re-thinking his commitment to Miami given their recently disclosed problems.

Re: Recruiting QBs
I don't know whether to call this an example of "circular reasoning" or a self-fulfilling prophesy or what.stc9 wrote:The rap on JJ's QBs at the next level is that they were system guys. Don't know if that is fair, but it is what it is.
But what June has done in the past is take marginal QB talent and make them relevant enough at the college level that they're given a look at the next level. And when they don't pan out fans say, "Oh, well so-and-so is a system QB."
To me, that's the hallmark of a good coach... Making the most of what you have and figuring out a way to beat teams that have more talent than you have.
To argue the flipside of that coin, will Zach Line get any bonus points with NFL scouts because he piled up his numbers in a "system" offense. Heck no.
So a QB prospect would be silly not to take advantage of this staff's NFL experience and coaching pedigrees. Because a kid who has the physical and mental abilities to play at the next level will get a look if he works hard, stays healthy, receives good instruction (check) and his coaches have good connections (check).
