Special Contributor Jon Machota gives three Mustangs who could break out for the 2011 SMU football season:

-- Keenan Holman: After catching nine passes for 102 yards last season, the 6-1, 188-pound sophomore is expected to take on a much larger role, stepping into the outside receiver position that was vacated by the graduation of Aldrick Robinson. Cole Beasley and Darius Johnson combined to catch 165 balls last season, meaning they will receive the bulk of attention from opposing defenses. Holman has the speed to make those defenses pay for forgetting about him.

-- Margus Hunt : The junior defensive end is part of an experienced defensive line that should be a strength for the Mustangs. NFL prospect Taylor Thompson, a senior defensive end, is the biggest name up front, but Hunt could be just as dangerous. Last season, Hunt recorded three sacks and was named All-Conference USA honorable mention.

-- Justin Sorrell : Causing several turnovers during training camp, the senior safety has been making a statement to the SMU coaching staff. He will most likely play behind senior Chris Banjo and junior Ryan Smith, but Sorrell, a junior college transfer from Blinn C.C., should have plenty of opportunities to make an impact this season.
