Without having talked to him, I would guess that he's feeling better. He said last week he thought it wasn't serious and hoped to be back in a few days... PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: Saturday (8/20/11) AFTERNOON practice report• While special teams coach Frank Gansz, Jr., works on kickoff and kickoff return drills, WRs coach Jeff Reinebold is throwing passes to the sideline, where his players have to make the catch and keep a foot in bounds. WR Bobby Waid is back in there, although he is taking it easy on his shin splits, wearing sneakers while the rest of his teammates are in cleats. One of the nicer sideline receptions was made by ... Taylor Reed, who jumped into the line of receivers. (Attention Mike Sherman: Taylor Reed is starting at wide receiver in the opener.)
• Extensive work (read: "standing around and talking") is vital to special teams success, but sadly, it leaves little to write about. • Cool drill for the WRs: one player stands facing Reinebold, the other (as a DB) stands between them, with his back to Reinebold, who throws the ball over the top to the far player. The "DB" can't watch Reinebold, and has to react only by reading what the WR does (jumping, reaching for the ball, etc.) Seems to be pretty fun — the WRs win the jump balls most of the time, and the players clearly are talking trash with each other, especially Der'Rikk Thompson, who broke up a pass to Ace Holleman and then caught one over Holleman. Almost-catch-of-the-day turned in by another secret WR (Ja'Gared Davis), who almost made a fantastic one-handed catch until he was strangled and thrown down by "CB" Taylor Reed ... after which both players fell apart, laughing. • When Reed later dropped a pass, he hit the turf for a few of the self-imposed push-ups WRs do when they drop catchable passes. His ever-helpful teammate, Davis, helped out by pushing down on Reed's back and then falling on him. Too bad these guys don't have any fun... • QBs throwing passes of about 18 or 20 yards at a trash can. A lot have been close, but the first to go in (that I have seen, at least) was by Kyle Padron. • NT Rishaad Wimbley is back out here, but most of the defensive linemen haven't done anything. Can't give an update on his health, but he's doing as far as his ability to stand and listen, he looks like an All-America. • QBs have backed up, and now throwing at a trash can from 25 yards. First one in thrown by walk-on Garrett Krstich. • Everyone is back to doing drills that look like actual football: offense running skeleton (no defense) drills on one end of the field, and the defense is walking through specific formations with defensive coordinator Tom Mason on the other end. • Sorry — a lot of this afternoon was basically walk-through stuff. Not a great deal to report. PonyFans.com ... is really the premier place for Mustang talk on the Web.

Re: Saturday (8/20/11) AFTERNOON practice reportYes we do.
I love the movie and the pre-Hawaii Bowl TV show Thad and his guys did, and I'd love to see more of their work, but when you think about how long this site has been free and still better than anything else out there, it's the guys who run this site who deserve our contributions. Thanks, webguys, for the outstanding coverage. (Pride — can't believe you tipped off the Aggies about T-Reed's transfer to WR! ![]()
