Hmmm. Could definitely be more posturing for some kind of move to the Big 12. Maybe Big 12 adds BYU, Air Force, and Houston and calls it a day. The silence and lack of buzz around SMU is deafening. Its been incredibly sobering seeing where we truly stand regarding realignment.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Most negative or most realistic regarding this issue? When the superconferences come together at 4 16 team conferences, I highly doubt we are a part of that scenario. Once those conferences are set, you can say bye bye to any more realignment. Everyone else will be relegated to D1AA. When that day comes you can tell me that this upcoming season wasn't the most important in the post DP era for SMU. Or when we are left in a conference that looks like this:

SMU
UNT
Rice
Tulsa
La Tech
UTEP
Tulane
UT-San Antonio
Texas State

How does that tickle your fancy?

he makes an interesting point. I was worried about this as well...the fact that BYU and Houston have never played before (have no historical ties) and have created this new relationship is worrisome. it could potentially be a way for both teams to form an alliance, making them more attractive to the big 12...

but who knows, up until this point I was sure BYU would remain on it's independent course.

BYU has also scheduled home and away games with Southern Miss, and UCF as well ---maybe BYU wants to join CUSA ? Don't count on it ....

I was with a friend last night who is a big Frog....yuchhh! But he said TCU is very close to signing a 10 year deal with LSU. They have a home and away series the next two years , but now they want to make it a long term deal.
We probably need a long term deal with a big BCS school which could assist us in future alignments/positioning. Hey it's better than a home and away series with Stephen F. Austin!

Give me a break StallionsmodelT, you think the powers that be at SMU aren't on top of this every day and every hour? geezz.....it just doesn't meet with YOUR time requirements? Get real.

Some people want to read in to anything. Could hand them a piece of paper, and darn it if they don't stare at it and try and find some deeper meaning. I hope we sign a home and home with Mississippi State so I can think we're slow playing a move to the SEC.

We just had a home-and-home with Washington State, but we aren't going to the PAC anytime soon.

Now they are independent, they have to scramble for new schools to play to fill their schedule right?
This seems to be a non-issue to me. Overreaction.

N Houston also has a behemoth Mormon population, many with big-time oil/tech money. Could be a fundraising trip.
