No, we have been working on details with Brad Sutton and Thad. I did not want to get to far ahead of myself on posting until we got some direction from the main players (SMU and Thad). We should have more information this afternoon.

We need Stallion to step up and give this thing real legitimacy.

I was not calling out or getting onto any PonyFan. I just kinda figured this was gathering dust on an SMU office desk or email queue. It's frustrating when a great idea comes along that seems like a slam dunk, and then all the momentum is sucked out of it. I do trust Thad and the other PF'ers. We shall see if the school does this right.

Understood Smooboy. Brad has been responsive and helpful. I also was worried we would lose some momentum on this, but things are moving along. It is a too bad we didn't get started on this a little earlier, but it is great that a random comment from Nick grew into a tangible project and generated so much interest and support. I sure hope we can do something that makes everyone happy and helps the cause.

Hey guys, Update time.

I spoke with Thad. He spoke to Brad. Unfortunately, they have contracted already for the Intro video. This confirms my conversation with Brad. That being said, he said he would use anything Thad put together for game day; it just would not be used for intro. Now, given this development, Thad and I bounced around some alternatives, and I would like to get some feedback from those who made pledges.

Alternatives:
1. Talk to SMU about using Thad and the money we pledged for a intro video next year.

My feeling is this is the least acceptable option, but it would give us, particularly Thad, time to do something top notch before the season starts.

2. Convert the pledges over to the billboard campaign to generate more visibility and outside ticket sales.

My thoughts - this would be a good use for the funds, but the excitement was generated in getting Thaddeus involved with his expertise and passion, so folks may not be willing to convert their pledge to another cause.

3. Pay Thad to produce a video, but have it played during the game as part of the game day production. As Thad, Giddyup and I talked about this alternative, we thought we could use the video as a forum to promote ticket sales to the home games. This would be complimentary to what Giddyup and RGV are doing with the billboards.

With this idea, the school could use it to promote the games in the stadium, and also play it during the football cable show and any televised games. This option could kill two birds with one stone, by using Thad's talents and promoting ticket sales rather than just using his talents for a 5 minute pregame video where lots of SMU fans are still on the BLVD.

The last option is my preference, but I would like input from some of our deep thinkers and those who have pledged their money base on SMU using the material. Thad is excited and can talk a little more about his thoughts. I mentioned this option to Brad Sutton, but need to flesh it out a little more with him tomorrow - depending on the feedback from the board.

Keep everything as it is, just create a video to be played at the end of halftime to get everyone ready to go for the 2nd half. Basically the same idea, just at a different point in the game. And if the game is a good one/close it'll get people fired right back up the same way an intro video gets people fired up at the beginning of games. Plus it'd be nice to have two different videos at different point in the games.

Other than that, I say scrap it and do it next year. I am a huge fan of intro/halftime videos/montages and think it is a great idea to get a legit one going.
