What a novel ideal from Texas Tech

Postby lwjr » Sat Aug 27, 2011 11:51 am

An article or TT press release in the DMN this morning on Texas Tech and their season ticket promotions and other ticket promotions. This is Texas Tech in LUBBOCK! and this makes the DMN. Ads for Tech season tickets are in the newspapers out here in the dust bowl, I mean West Texas, everyday for the last month or two. Nothing fancy, no color ads just basic ad for season tickets and now also for game day tickets. The United Supermarket chain are big supporters of Tech and when you go into one of their stores in the panhandle region you will see a lot of Red and Black. This is a pretty simple advertisement type of campaign that has been very successful for the Red Raiders. Say what you want about them, but Tech gets out and markets this team hard in the West Texas and the Panhandle area of the state. Being in Midland I cannot see what SMU is doing, maybe they have started something like this in the Dallas area. Other than the promotions push by folks on ponyfans.com I assume SMU is still sitting on their hands.
In order to make money you have to spend money..

Texas Tech announced Friday that it had sold out of season tickets in the northern endzone sections of Jones AT&T Stadium.
Texas Tech athletics combined with a West Texas grocery store chain, United Supermarkets, to provide for $99 season tickets in the northern area of the stadium. That special has come to a close but Texas Tech announced a new deal with United on Friday.
If you visit TexasTech.com/promocode and use the code "unite" there are special deals for the Red Raiders' season-opener against Texas State and two new packages that feature three individual home game tickets.
The first three-game package consists of tickets for home games against Texas State, Nevada and Texas A&M in section 102. The second three-game package features tickets to home games against Kansas State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State in section 102.

Tech are doing a good job with tapping into the fact that there is no other college football in the area and manage to get good crowds. I take my hat off to them.

Hope your hat is big enough to cover up Lubbock.

No other college football? More like "no other points of interest" lol.

Surely they have a bowling alley somewhere in that town. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

They used to have a washer pitch in Lubbock, didn't they?

Seriously, what a terrible home schedule for them. I guess K-State and OSU will draw visitors, but anyone else?
