Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30Good show, just think we could use that money elsewhere for butts in seats. I think someone said last year it's over 200K for the production. Hopefully didn't come out of the direct AD budget.
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30here's the response from one of my frog buddies when i emailed him the link....
"[deleted], we don't even have tv show" Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30If produced well and with the proper spin, if the coaches are contacting recruits and urging them to watch, everyone that does has just had an extra "in home" visit. It can be a recruiting tool if it is used properly. Plus, being as far away from the action as I am, I enjoy getting to see some of the things that go on and "meet" the players.

Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30
because how meany people see an SMU billboard and think "man, i better check that out. i'm buying a ticket for next week's game against UAB!" whatever. the show gives people a chance to see what we're doing here, and if it's anything like the climb, it's well produced giving a unique angle to the team/staff/school. Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30
Without a doubt that is what billboards are for. I made my remark because Nick had said he would rather spend the money on billboards because he never saw a quote from a recruit that he committed because of the TV show. I was just stating that I have never seen one commit because of a billboard. I have the utmost respect for Nick and he and I will have to disagree on this subject. I think the show is money well spent towards both recruiting over a large portion of the southwest and in trying to promote some interest in SMU football out to the Dallas area public. A local billboard can only accomplish one of those goals and only in specific, limited areas. And there is nothing wrong with having both. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
"SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30200k is a lot to spend on a tv show, when we really need to be promoting this team locally and we aren't.
200k buys a fair amount of ad space and tickets
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30I tend to agree with Nick ....but they are two different things. Hopefully we'll have commercials for people to buy tickets to games, if not that is a huge wasted opportunity. Now is the time we should be marketing the fball program all over Dallas.
DVR was already set with the settings from last year.
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30SMU owns the best billboard in Dallas - Expressway Towers.
Going n or s on 75, you see that building miles away. Put banners up or buy a light projector (like they projected on buildings for TCU game) to advertise an upcoming home game.
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30
When they did the banners for the TCU game but they were so tiny you couldn't even see them. It should happen for every home game.
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30
Need something you can see a mile away. Think projector is best..easiest to change for each game and can cover a large portion of bldg
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30
Dutch, At least folks will know SMU has a home game as opposed to in the past when know one, outside of SMU family, knew about it. I'm am willing to support any kind of exposure that will make people aware of SMU athletics. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30
On Dish Network at !:00AM Thursday morning. Also Fox Sports South is showing the Conference USA Football Preview show multiple times.
Re: "SMU Football 2011: The Stampede" To Debut Aug. 30I hope somebody will record the shows and post them on youtube like last year. Many of us aren't in an area where we can watch the regularly scheduled programs.
BTW- I think the programs are great. They are not only a good recruiting tool but also help to create an awareness of SMU. GO PONIES!!!
