Brisket, hot rings, beans, coleslaw and potato salad, iced tea. Important safety tip--Kruez Market and Luling City Market are closed on Sunday.

Went to Salt Lick for the first time Sunday. Not bad, but it's no Lockhart joint.

Smittys/Kreuz are the King of Texas BBQ in my book and will always be. Blacks gets a tip of the cap as well.Sure you can find amazing cuts of well smoked meat across our great state but the experience of walking in to that old hallway at Smittys is unbeatable.
Franklin BBQ of Austin is quickly moving up the BBQ ranks and is being touted as amazing.

Amen, brother. I've never enjoyed walking in from 105 degree Texas summer heat into 120 degree barbecue heat more than walking into Smitty's two weekends ago.

Kent Black, manager of Black's in Lockhart, is an SMU alum and a diehard Mustang fan. He makes a mean brisket.

Got the worst case of food poisoning I have ever experienced at Coopers in Llano. Used to be my favorite spot when I visited my daughter and son-in-law. No more from them other than their great blackberry cobbler.
