I'm a newbie so I need a little help. Is Peruna the mascot or is it Liberty and Justice. Isn't Peruna the short little shetland pony? Loved the drunk staggering peruna story at the cotton bowl. hilarious.

Peruna is the mascot.

Liberty and Justice are wild Mustangs that got donated to SMU when Coach Jones lent his name to a project designed to help save the wild Mustangs from extinction. Some traditionalists fear Peruna is being replaced as the school mascot, even though assurances have been made repeatedly that this is not the case. My understanding is that Peruna (yes, the black Shetland Pony) remains the official mascot, while L&J are sort of university pets or something.

I can hear the Aggie announcers now, "Peruna just desecrated the sacred war ground, Oh, the humanity!!!". Peruna payback!!! And yes, if that little snippy dog got in Peruna's crosshairs, one dead Revelie.

OK, I love animals and don't wish death on them, but I can't even imagine the outcry in Aggieworld if that happened. If that dog walks behind Peruna, she's going to be kicked into orbit.

Again, Aggie fans, I'm not hoping for that. Yours is a cute dog. But they probably would issue some statement claiming that Coach Jones had spent two-a-days teaching Peruna to kick puppies, rather than coaching the team.

I would think for the corps at Kyle Field, the SMU cheerleaders could put a big studded leather collar on the guy dressed in the "Peruna" costume, make him crawl on all fours, whip him, and do other demeaning things to him that the Aggies would relate to, so...................it would be S&M for U.
