Hey guys, Update time.
3. Pay Thad to produce a video, but have it played during the game as part of the game day production. As Thad, Giddyup and I talked about this alternative, we thought we could use the video as a forum to promote ticket sales to the home games. This would be complimentary to what Giddyup and RGV are doing with the billboards.

With this idea, the school could use it to promote the games in the stadium, and also play it during the football cable show and any televised games. This option could kill two birds with one stone, by using Thad's talents and promoting ticket sales rather than just using his talents for a 5 minute pregame video where lots of SMU fans are still on the BLVD.

I agree, this sounds like the best use of funds and Thad's talents. A rock solid video that can be used during broadcasts and maybe the Stampede series, coupled with what is beginning to look like a very coordinated campaign to join the Big 12 could really get some major bang for the buck. Just my $.02 (and don't worry, I'd be able to contribute a bit more than that to the cause).

Hey, this thing is really gaining some traction.... I think we can do something here. I told Brad that I am a team player on this thing. I want to see what comes from Treadway21's conversation with Brad tomorrow... if it goes well:

I'd love to shoot something at the first home game and have a commercial ready to play at the games and on TV (during the TV show we are so lucky to have and our games, if the ath. dept. can make it happen) by our first conference home game.

Personally, I think this might be better than a "team intro" video from a marketing standpoint. But I am at your, my dear ponyfans, beck and call on this issue.

I know it is UT and Mcconaughey, but something like this would be awesome. Current players, but also reminding people of our past legends. Maybe get Kathy Bates, Brian Baumgartner, or Hacksaw Jim Duggan to participate. Heck, maybe we can even get Nastia Liukin in on the deal and offer her a discount on tuition if she ever comes back. Remind people that Dandy Don, Eric Dickerson, Craig James, Payne Stewart, Doak Walker, etc. are SMU legends. Sure, a lot of kids may not even know who those people are, but it would be good to keep reminding the general public that SMU has an established tradition that it is building upon. I'm sure Thad's is gonna blow this out of the water.

Intro video definitely much cooler than a halftime/random time video. I would certainly vote for whatever makes that happen.

Also, Mcconaughey totally ruins that video. But i do think it's a cool idea.

Mentioning Ricky Williams and Vince Young, really? The definitions of next-level burnout? No wonder the Longhorn Network can't get picked up anywhere. Really not that impressed, and no doubt Thad could do a whole lot better. Like the idea of mentioning past legends, need a much better spokesperson, and overall improvement in production quality. Given the guy leading this project, the last point won't be an issue.

My vote would be anything that Thad can produce that would excite / pump up the crowd get them on thier feet and involved --- there has to be something better than Third down Thunder !
