In my experience... another tip for getting under their skin is referring to the color of their uniforms as "purple"

Good grief, that guy must have corrected me 64 times during a single game, and it never occurred to him that I was not simply mistaken.

One of my best high school buddies was a yell leader there back in the 80s. This was during the days of the old Soviet Union, and his parents were beaming with pride when they told me that College Station would be the first town attacked by Russian nuclear missiles if WWIII ever started. They read somewhere in the A&M literature that the Russians believed that the Aggies would be the primary resistance to a Communist takeover. I laughed, but they were not joking. They honestly believed this. It was all too strange.

Most of their traditions are just embarrassing - the kind of embarrassing that makes you uncomfortable to be present watching because you feel so bad for the goofball that is embarrassing themselves. And the fact that they are not a bit embarrassed then becomes the amusing and entertaining part.

The only thing that actually gets under my skin is when they act like all those 1,000's of ROTC nerds - none of which ever had a date in high school - are actually some part of the USA's armed services. That is when they cross the line from weird to being insultingly self deluded.
