Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QB
I guess Vegas has spoken. Although I think JJ should get the start I don't necessarily think it would give us 3 more points. Wouldn't a QB controversy create uncertainty and the line would come down? Guess that is why I don't gamble.
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBThat's interesting considering the only tape anybody has on JJ, assuming they are even watching tape to make bets, is a uneven game in College Station. Really interesting.
Hopefully UTEP is really just that crappy. Usually, the team that scores the most points wins the game - John Madden
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBI don’t know which one gives us the best chance of winning. I do know that turnovers have killed this team for decades. It may be that Jones is at a zero tolerance for turnovers now.
Our D hasn’t produced any significant turnovers since 2009. With so little turnovers produced by the D, it puts a premium on protecting the ball on offense. I wouldn’t be shocked if Z Line got 35 carries Saturday. Not because of the QB situation, but because he is effective and doesn’t put the ball on the ground.
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBI want to know how all of you football intellects know, that JJ has not the tools Kyle possesses. Have you showed up to all of the practices? Did you follow him somewhere else?
I for one have seen enough of KP, we know what he has / doesn’t. Jones knows what he’s doing
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBwhen stony brooke takes you to ot you know you are bad.
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBI haven't had a chance to go back & watch the game again on tivo, but it seems like KP's big issue against tamu as well as the last several games has been him not following his check-downs as the plays are drawn up. He has a "go-to" that he stares down from the snap. This has been June's criticism of Kyle since he benched BLM, and it doesn't seem to have improved as much as it should have by this point in his career.
I'm rooting for KP. I hope he can figure this thing out. I feel much more comfortable with a seasoned vet that we could rely on for the next 2 years vs. this being McDermott's last year. However, if Kyle can't get comfortable with how the offense runs effectively, I will be thankful we have a backup that is (or can be - in very short order).
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBSo what about this Connor Preston guy? Say KP doesn't "get it" this season and we have to ride out JJ, you have got to wonder how Jones intends to utilize Preston/KP next year.

ding ding ding Derail the Frogs!
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QB
We could possibly see him in a blowout situation which should occur at least twice in the next 3 games. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBYou guys saying JJ can't be a starter is flat out ridiculous. He was thrown in to the game in front of 86,000 and was extremely calm. Padron has had 3-4 awful games in a row and rarely puts up more than 30 pts. JJ is good and will put points on the board.
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QB
Jones said something like "you do know what a player has until you seem them in a game" ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: J.J. McDermott gives ponies best shot at QBTicket talked about the game around noon today.
Roughly...... R&S team has to have an accurate QB There should always be an open receiver Kyle made bad decisions/ forced into coverage vs open receiver McDermot looked good given the situation Kicker was walk-on Practiced that kick all week...just didn't work in the game Pics and field position made it hard to win. Without those early mistakes would have been a game into 3rd
