No kidding. Between Marks commit, and now Printz, maybe SMU will get a harder look from some more top kids.

I am a roller coaster of emotions right now.
I still can't get rid of the sting from Sunday. I get this sinking feeling if we didn't try that onside kick we have a shot at that game.
But hey...Welcome to SMU Eddie.

Re: Atlanta Journal-Constitution blog on Eddie Printz
After Printz committed to SMU on Monday, he was contacted by some SEC schools, among others. "They all emailed and asked why did Eddie commit so early? And does that really mean he’s 100-percent done?"his father said. "Yes, Eddie is done with the recruiting. He’s not one to commit and still look around. He’s 100-percent committed to SMU."

Blvd Stang, I think the onside kick was a great call at that point in time. Their kickoff team was retreating. The problem wasn't the plan, but the execution - looked like a 3rd grader was trying his first kick at a soccer ball. Unbelievable.

Can I say that the execution was bad because of the plan? Putting in a kicker that was a couple weeks fresh into the program in front of 90k+ fans to onside kick with momentum swinging your way.panhandle_pony wrote:Blvd Stang, I think the onside kick was a great call at that point in time. But maybe you just want to put your players in position to win and hope they can execute at the highest level? Like I said roller coaster...

blvd- IIRC the kicker had played at TT. He was also a former soccer player. I would have thought he could have done better. One post indicated that the ball was blowing off of the tee at the time he kicked it. IDK- but it is possible.

Re: Atlanta Journal-Constitution blog on Eddie Printz
Let me first preface this by saying this commitment is totally, completely, awesome. Just go read the SEC message boards, takes about 15 seconds of google work, and laugh your as* off at them. Let me also say that I think he can have a very positive impact on recruiting for next year. I love his statement that he wanted to commit early to help build the class around him; maybe it'll help solidify a couple guys this year *COUGH* Robert Lews. Let me further say I don't want this to turn in to some kind of bi*ch fest about Texas v. the Nation recruiting, that's not my point.
However, I believe that the "pied piper" effect would be generated by a recruit of this caliber in Texas. Much like a marquee win over a Texas program, say, oh I don't know, #8 TAMU at TAMU would be a marquee win that would cause a bunch of kids around these parts to look at SMU differently, like hey, we're back. Too bad we threw away that opportunity in all of two positions. I just think the singing canary effect would be much greater if it occurred in our relative backyard, and I'd say the same thing if we were in Nashville.
Still, awesome pickup, love his statements and his desire to build a great class around him. Once again, all hail Adrian Klemm.
