I haven't heard that Tuberville cancelled the black jerseys, in fact, the photos I've seen of their new uniforms, which does have black jerseys and black pants, look absolutely horrible. They have red jerseys w/ black numbers... never a good idea... and black jerseys w/ red numbers... which again, is never a good idea. As far as June Jones... I'll warn you all, he loves black. He changed Hawaii from green and white to black, silver and a little bit of green. And for Hawaii, it worked. He minimized the green which, in my opinion, is just ugly in football, and their jerseys when he was there, were very sharp. Here, at SMU... where your colors are red, blue and white... and yes, I know the red and blue have specific names... like Harvard red and something blue... but here, black does not and will not work. I hope to God he doesn't start changing your uniforms. You have a classic look and the blue jerseys are sweet as can be. The helmet... perfection. The only change I would make is on the road uniforms and make the numbers blue w/ red trim. I feel there's too much red going on w/ the helmet stripes and pony and red numbers. But black? At SMU? No.

I don't particularly care for black jerseys, but I am curious as to why SMU, some time ago, wanted to honor Harvard and Yale? I understand the quick answer they both are considered Ivy League pinnacles of education. I also know they are both known for their Secret Fraternities of which the Bush Clan going back prior to 1900 were key members of the "Order of Death", 322, Skull and Bones. Now Bush has his library at SMU. It is common knowledge how the bonesmen take an oath to help bring each other along in their collective rise to the top. Off topic but what is Bushs connection to SMU?

for one, Laura graduated from SMU. Ironic, because that seemed like the most 'on-topic' part of your post

But more than a change in jerseys, I want to see a change on the field. So let's win some damn games!
I would be weary of any recruit that chose the school because of the uniforms. Seems pretty vacant to me. I thought Boise and Georgia looked horrible.

We'll see black jerseys, but not black helmets.
I don't like it, but it appeals to recruits, allegedly, and Coach Jones likes them so it's not going to change.
Next topic.

The color choice was a part of creating a brand message for SMU: An elite institution teaching and seeking truth. http://www.dallasnews.com/section-archi ... utlook.ecePresident Hyer did have in mind a "great" university. He chose for the school colors Harvard crimson and Yale blue, and for the motto Veritas liberabit vos - the truth will set you free. He declared that SMU would be denominational and not sectarian, and so open to various truth claims, in the Methodist spirit of "Think and let think."

I am really glad June is here, but why does he have to skrew up our unis, he wouldn't be able to get away with at certain other schools so why does he get away with it here?

Because there aren't enough hardcore fans that would string him up if he tried, like there would be at other schools

Thank you Sir for the information. I especially liked the part about " An elite institution teaching and seeking truth".

Oh no! Not again....this just gives me a headache. It's a STUPID idea and it looks STUPID. I believe JJ likes black but don't buy that recruits want it---ut, a&m, florida, florida state, notre dame, etc don't seem to have a problem getting recruit and they don't switch to black..

Red, white, and blue not good enough for June Jones? I question his patriotism.
Anyone seen a birth certificate?

That part was my own creation...seems to be a good way of stating the brand that Hyer wanted to create.
