Why does everyone automatically include AFA in all of their assumptions. AFA is not in the business to depend on TV revenues, their own network.....etc. to support their athletic program and satisfy alums. They have represented themselves very well in football using essentially non-rated, one star and some 2 star athletes and using their variation of the wish bone, veer, what ever option and compete based on discipline and execution. They are merely competitive in basketball and representative in all other sports. I am not sure AFA wants a steady diet of TU, OU, OSU, TT as they are greatly outside their competitive and comfort level. The same can be said for Navy and Army. Hence, I do not look at AFA as competition for an invite into what ever may become of the Big 12; however, they would be a great addition to a high bred super conference composed of the reminents of the Big 12 ( if the big boys pack up and leave) MWC, CUSA.

I agree and you would then add Navy and Army. Despite my admiration for the service academies, our highest priority should be a BCS conference centered in the Lone Star State and the Great Plains, where fans can readily travel to and from Big D.

With or without Beebe, the Big 12 convinces BYU to come and immediately adds Houston and SMU. At 12 members with a solid traveling epicenter in Dallas, the Big 12 looks strong for the long term with OU and Texas the first among equals. Their path to BCS will be better, as well, and all their sports, athletes and fans will not have to suffer the travel demands of going to the Pacific Coast and its Time Zone. Forget any other combination or wish list like attracting ND or Arkansas. It won't happen.

The result is we avoid the chaos and destructive nature of 16 member super(?) conferences.

FWIW... the first part of your plan might become reality, lets just hope for the second part to come true. If true and OU commits to the Big 12, I can see TCU re-entering the picture.

An actual article from a website/random fan site that has not been updated since November 2010. Might be some truth to it, but many are saying hold your horses, including Chuck Carlton with the DMN.

I was their undercover source. They came to my door and I said I would listen to their story if they listened to my conspiracy theories.

Just think of all the theories you can spread with BYU in Austin every other year.

The "story" actually makes sense if Bevo cant bring their network to the Pac 12 and OU is not invited without UT. UT and OU agreeing to equal revenue sharing outside of their networks is a different story.

Mormons are just too darn nice to mess with. Now if the Scientologists started a university football team, I would have a field day with them.
