CJ MilesKU just signed a guy from Illinois who would preclude them from signing Kevin Rogers. Miles and Rogers have said they would like to play together. Time for some magic from Tubbs. Is Bhop close enough to these guys to help?. It would be great to see Bhop, Miles and Rogers playing together even for a short time. That would be how to become Dallas's basketball team in a hurry.
You are right you astute watcher of college b'ball. Wright 's commitment is verbal at this point. He called all of the other coaches who were in the hunt and told them though. According to his mother, they took it with class. This kid didn't even go to KU for a visit. He evidently just likes Self and knows the tradition KU has. He plans to use his trip to KU to be introduced to the crowd at a game or Midnight Madness. I think he was ranked as high as No 5 by some of the rags. It is said that he played all 5 positions in HS. Self is doing a phenomenal job in recruiting. It appears (on paper at least) that he has done better than Roy ever did. I just hope that Miles wants to play with his buddy really badly or he will probably go to KU too.
I guess it isn't anything but a hyped up practice open to the public si I would think you could do it without any qualifications. Unfortunately for those of us who don't have 50 gazillion screaming fans that would show up for anything to do with basketball, it does seem unfair. CJ Miles went to a practice when he was at KU that was in a sold out auditorium holding about 1300 people who started chanting "Come to KU CJ" when he entered the gym. My fondest wishes for SMU are that we can play to a sold out Moody each game with all of the fans being SMU fans and be able to show recruits what Moody can be like each and every game. Maybe a couple of these guys we are recruiting now could be the catalyst to achieve that someday. The class of 2005- The class that sent SMU to the top. Don't wake me.
The ponies MIGHT have a very slim, outside chance at getting Rogers, but there is no chance whatsoever with CJ Miles. None.
If Miles were to opt to stay in state, his choice will strictly be either Baylor or UT. However, both of those programs are very much on the outside looking in right now. At this point, I'd bet on the Kansas Jayhawks sealing the deal.
Re:
ScoopDog, you are joking about Miles considering BU??? Sadly, to play hoops @ BU, you have to wear a 'flak' jacket to survive hangin around your teammates. Don't think that doesn't play on family members of recruits. In addition to the BB scandal, you get -0- TV @ Baylor-- unless you're playing KU or UT...
just about every top recruit in Texas has considered Baylor this year-or so it seems. Baylor has been everywhere. They already have 2 4 star commits and have interest from about 8 4 stars and about 14 3 stars and above.

I could care less where he goes. In fact, I think that I did state quite clearly that he will probably end up at Kansas, and not at Baylor or UT.
However, check the record, and see which schools he has visited the most times over the past year. You will be surprised to see which one is the runaway winner in this category.(If you do not want to take my word on it, then call coach Mayo or one of his AAU coaches and ask them).
Re:
Personally, Stallion, I hope Coach Drew succeeds @ BU. He seems like a nice guy, & BU is a great university. But, IMHO, the fact that he has more Schol offers to give reflects in all these interests by HS Seniors. You can't hide the facts, with few exceptions (Vinnie Johnson & Terry Teagle & couple of others come to mind), BU has been sorry in hoops. Kids want to play big time & WIN, but... * BU has lost in BB as much in the Big12 as they have in FB; * They play a weak schedule (no names in pre-season except Purdue); * They have poor attendance; * Waco is no major media locale for getting exposure; * The murder scandal will haunt this program like the "DP". With all these negatives, I think C. Drew has his work cut out for him.
Truly, something goes on in Waco we don't quite know about. Are Guy Moriss and the younger Drew such scintillating conversationalists that all of a sudden everyone wants to go to Waco? Seriously now. Is anyone a little suspiscious why all these top recruits are headed down I35?
Re:
-------------------- Stallion, recruiting may have been satisfactory. But it is not the issue at BU-- commitment will be their downfall. Over the last decade, they have one of the worst conference records in the ncaa. (FB & BB) Now, add the murder/scandal, and money is drying up for BU sports. Baylor only wins FB conferences every 50 years: '24, '74'... 2024??? Help me with BB championships- even w/ Vinnie Johnson or Terry Teagle. IMHO, these quality coaches cannot turn around the BU train...
It appears that all of SWC2010's Baylor bashing isn't slowing down the Scott Drew recruiting machine one bit. It keeps roaring along, piling up one top 100 national recruit right after the next.
With all due respect, I do not see how you can bash Baylor for not having great attendance, lack of TV coverage, a weak schedule, lack of media exposure, etc. Do you truly believe that SMU is ahead of Baylor in any of these areas? Personally, I do go to sporting events at both colleges every year, and I do not see more fans in the stands at SMU than at Baylor, and I definitely do not see SMU on tv more than the Bears. Furthermore, SMU normally does play a few good quality opponents in basketball every year, but is their total basketball schedule anywhere close to being as hard as what Baylor plays every year?(Texas twice, OU twice, Texas Tech with Bobby Knight twice, final four bound OK State twice, etc.) And do not give me this BS about how those are conference games, so therefore they must not count. If a recruit knows that by signing with you he is going to get to play Kansas, Missouri, etc. every year, then that is a selling point to him. I live in Dallas, and would like to see both schools do well. No need for you to bash BU. TC p.s. Calvin Miles probably will not end up at Baylor, but he has visited the Waco campus many times.
