Re: PadronHere's my thing about JJ McD: he's a Drew Bledsoe type quarterback. He's calm and collected; he'll play consistently well, but never great. He'll lead a couple of good drives, then stall, and while he may not make any major mistakes, he'll also never take the big risks needed to make the big play. The R&S is by its very nature a high risk/high reward kind of offense, and to have a risk averse QB running it will continue to hold it back. I don't see a lot of passion in JJ; I don't see him as a guy who can challenge himself and his teammates to step up a game. I don't see a leader.
Kyle, on the other hand, is a lot of times too amped up for his own good. Personally, I'd rather have a fired up QB with big play potential. Although Kyle certainly has had some major blunders, it floors me how easily people dismiss the great overall season he had last year. If you watched him during the UTEP game, he was the first guy out there giving high fives and encouragement to both the offense and defense. He was a burst of energy on the TD he scored and got fans and players fired up. I don't see JJ having the ability to do that, nor do I see him being a true leader of the offense or having the mentality to make this offense really take off. Re: PadronAgreed. KP must be committing the same r&s cardinal sin over and over that June just can't stand it anymore. And I don't think it's the interceptions. Do we know what that is? A lot of things irk us about Kyle's progress, but there has got to be one thing that he does that June can't stand and is the reason behind him benching his Manning/Davey O'Brien watchlist Junior. Four pass attempts on 2 games?!? Chances at those awards are down the toilet. Is it:
-Holding the ball too long -Staring down receivers -Making improper reads These seem teachable and KP seems like a smart guy. I can't believe June couldn't say "Kyle, this series only throw it to you second or third read" or "Kyle, count to four and either throw it or throw it away". That's what QB gurus do, right?
Re: Padroni counted at least three deep balls?
the real problem is we don't have a guy who ran the second fastest 40 at the nfl combine playing wr this year.
Re: Padron
Not saying you're right or wrong, but wow ... you can discern all of that from less than two games, one of which was played against a defense for a team considered one of the best in the nation? You're good! ![]() Fountain of youth

Re: PadronAnd yet we still have some pretty fast SOBs hanging around
D Johnson: 4.4 sec 40 A Holleman: 4.5 sec 40 D Thompson: 4.37 sec 40 N Johnson: 4.4 sec 40 J Johnson: 4.4 sec 40 K Guinyard: 4.5 sec 40
Re: Padron
Yeah, those are all verified times, because their rivals profile says so!!! Its crazy how we have 4-5 receivers who would all have a top 5 forty time at NFL combine. DJ and Thompson probably run legit 4.4 range, not sure about the others...
Re: PadronDuckster you are funny, lol.. Severe sprain.. one leg... sounds like an excuse coming from you. (we need 3-5 touchdowns from our Quarterback, not two if we want to be called High Powered ever again, I mean ever, sorry)
TD-INT ratio is an easy number to calculate but what does it really tell you unless it is extreme. I would be interested in Padron's last season total first downs, total 3rd down attempts and conversions, average number of plays per possession when the team scored. Average number of plays per touchdown pass completion, Average passing yardage per game. Compare these stats of Padron to several successful R&S Quarterbacks as well as plain ol good quarterbacks. Let's clearify the picture.
Re: Padron
Hey, I'm the first to admit that I will be thrilled to have JJ come out and prove me a total idiot; I'm just giving my first-glance reaction having seen the two playing styles and personalities (granted in limited quantities). I have not seen a lot of JJ, and it has not impressed me, certainly not to the point that it justifies benching a QB that re-wrote the record books last year. Re: Padron
RSFanny: Look it up. I bet it's better than the current guy, and a whole lot better than the previous guy.
Re: Padron
He's using 2 games to decide. Jones used 2 series. Which is worse? The genius aint all he's cracked up to be. Check the facts.
Re: PadronDukster = Padron's close friend or relative...
Re: Padron
How about Dukster = SMU fan ?
Re: Padronyou seem a little too Pro-Padron is all I'm sayin.. it's hard to tell at this point, we'll see. I'd like to see JJ throw more than 1 TD, yes. -- not much of what "genius" does makes sense.
Re: PadronOK So after listining to June at the luncheon here is what I think the deal with Padron. June sees Kyle as a kid who makes the right reads and all the throws in practice but when he gets into the game he thinks to much/is nervouse and starts making mistakes which June sees as not makeing proper reads and adjustments and deteriation in technique leading to bad throws. June thinks JJ on the other had is poised and does not get flustered in the game.
Now I think this means that June knows KP has more talent than JJ (which i think everyone can agree on) but he is fed up with it not transfering into games. Now I don't think its fair to bench Kyle for the season because he gets flusterer at Kyle field against one of the best teams in the country, Does JJ get flustered if he comes into a tied game with the stadium as loud as it was ever going to get? Does he get flustered playing against a team like UTEP? Who knows but his numbers last year suggest not.
