For Those Predicting a Blowout...

Postby SMU2007 » Tue Sep 13, 2011 6:25 pm

We've won exactly 1 regular season game by more than 2 scores in the JJ era (UAB game last year)

Hmmm. 28-17 sounds like two scores to me. a TD+PAT AND a field goal (w/ a point to spare).
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

so tell me how a field goal isn't scoring points? i'll take 3 of those over 1 opponent TD. those are ways to score. so a TD and a FG and ANOTHER POINT IS MORE THAN TWO SCORES. takes 2 possessions to do that. NO? am i wrong? i'm confused. i guess field goals don't count?

he said WON BY MORE THAN 2 SCORES. if we want to get technical, a TD, a PAT and a FG are three scoring opportunities. same as a TD, 2pt conversion and a FG, but the point here was MORE than 2 scores, and that was accomplished last week.

Once again, other than the Hawai`i Bowl we have never just drilled an opponent in the JJ era - even when we should have.

Hopefully this will change Saturday, obviously.

We will obliterate these clowns.

However, I am deeply concerned about the offense and its inability to have any level of consistency. We are in year four. Talent-wise we are as good or better than every team in CUSA. We have a 2.5M head coach and a staff full of NFL caliber coaches. We have some of the finest facilities of any school in the country regardless of conference affiliation or status. Whether it happens this week or next week I want to see this thing show me what we are paying for. I love Coach Jones and what he has accomplished here so far, but now its time to take this thing to the next level.
Back off Warchild seriously.

If we really are at the top talent wise in CUSA the bar has been set by UCF. UCF destroyed Charleston Southern 62-0. Then they went on to destroy BC 30-3. Will be great to see if NWS allows the team a chance to finally click or show how deep these problems run. You cannot hide on the football field.

DEPENDS on who the QB is.
At the rate we're going now we are not a good football team.
I will have to say SMU 20-16

i think we'll win by two scores but it wont be anything impressive. 34-17. this is a team that needs to grow. it should win games, but it's not the sort of roster that is going to blow anyone out. we can blame whoever we want but the bottom line is we're only in year two of national relevance. i know we got june in 08, but it wasn't until the hawaii bowl that we truly arrived. last year was our actual coming out season so lets give this time. we got in over our heads with expectations, now it's time to take a step back. houston and ucf have been doing this for a while. in 2008 we were the worst team in the fbs, now the national media expects us to win more games than we lose by a respectable margin. even if we're not the best team in C-USA we're the most talked about team in C-USA and that alone will bode well for us on the recruiting trail.

pony up! let's alter our expectations to getting back to the c-usa title game, and if that doesn't happen let's just hope we land a good bowl game. i think it's now or never for smu vs hawaii, and that game alone would attract the national media attention we want. a win in that game would mean more than any bowl win we could get minus the liberty bowl... and let's be honest a team like tennessee or georgia that we'd potentially meet in the liberty bowl would slaughter us this year.
