Re: US News RankingsAcceptance rate nailed us. It moved up from 53% to almost 60%. Going forward, we must get this number to below 50%...............
Re: US News RankingsWhy in the world did the acceptance rate jump so high? Did we have a drop in applicants or did admissions just not know how to filter the new Apply Texas applicants properly. SAT scores went up, so are we at least admitting more from a better group and just having trouble with knowing who is serious and who is not?
I wonder if our number of scholarships are starting to lag behind the quality of applicants we receive and they are getting better enticements at competitive schools. More PS and overall scholarships would definitely help us buy our way.
Re: US News RankingsWe needed a larger freshman class, plain and simple......A mistake imo - should have used the endowment to make up for lost revenue and taken a smaller class..............
Re: US News Rankings
It was the Fall 2010 acceptance rate that was used, and we know applications were up for Fall 2010 entry. My guess is that the admissions office felt that yield would be low...they probably figured many of the applicants were only applying because of our football success and didn't have a care in the world about actually coming here. By the way, I believe our yield wasn't low. Seemed like we had a larger than usual freshman class last year.
Re: US News RankingsThat's what the new dean of dedman said last night, largest incoming freshmen class, and largest ever number of applications

Re: US News RankingsWill just take time to better gauge interest of students/yield. They aren't planning on increasing the number of undergraduates permanently are they?
Re: US News RankingsYes, the number of admits will go up. Got a new school of education coming on line.............
Re: US News Rankings
How many students do you think we could hold? Would certainly would need a few more academic buildings. Are they ever planning on expanding Clements? That place is packed with way too many departments. It holds Math (which is very large), Foreign Languages (large), Honors, Human Rights (growing), the first floor holds the academic advisers, I think a few more departments may be thrown in there in random rooms, and a few classrooms. Maybe they should just move math to its own building if they can get the funds. More people will be taking math as Cox increases its math requirements (they are way behind other b-schools) and as Lyle continues to grow (requires several math courses, and many take math as a second major).
Re: US News Rankingsno plans to increase student body. It will stay at about 5500
