Windows 8 .... YIKES!!!

I just installed the Developer's Preview of Windows 8 and just wanted to see if I could post to PF.

BTW Windows 8 is NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME!


I'm having to learn new ways to do simple things.

I see why they give it to us in advance to work out the bugs!

It is really designed for the LCD!

They are making this version be touch centric with all the new touch enabled monitors which are being manufactured, as well as being able to run on everything from old netbooks through the new tablets (iPad clones) to high powered desktops running different processors throughout.

It really is better in a number of ways such as using less memory overall.

BUT the new interface is really going to be for novices to do things more easily by just touching the big aas interactive touch tiles



on the new start screen which unfortunately for us power users replaces the Start menu.

The Start Screen is not just a touch interface, it is the interface.

It is cool in some ways as the tiles update automatically. I set my Live account as the default mail address and was automatically updated so that even my default picture from Live was downloaded and displayed.

The weather tile determined where I was and updated to my location.

The power user in me couldn't even figure out how to get to my command prompt or shut the stinkin' thing down.

The "Windows Key + I" gets you to the "Metro UI" which displays a portion of the screen with the power button to restart or power off.

Since these are my first hours using Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10 with their "Metro UI" (user interface) and no touch screen I need to spend more time relearning everything I already know.

BTW LCD means Lowest Common Denominator!

Lets spend more money to dumb down the world.
