no, just mocking someone who is looking for a bargain on a $15 dollar ticket. I know that $45 can be a lot to some people, but that is cheap entertainment. and the last thing we need is resales of existing unused tickets. BUY MORE TICKETS FROM SMU TO BOOST ATTENDANCE NUMBERS. it helps the program.
I thought they counted attendance by tickets taken (or turnstile or scanned or whatever--butts in seats), not sold?
that may be. so if it's not to boost attendance numbers, how about to financially support SMU Athletics. that should be good enough reason. it's FIFTEEN FREAKING DOLLARS.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

sorry, I am a little bent out of shape over this issue. it just drives me mad when people at SMU and our alumni work hard to sell more tickets to a sporting event, one that is now a marketable product, and there are people out there just wanting a deal. seriously. the poster even said they don't care where the seats are. so go buy a cheap endzone ticket. i guess i would just hope that people on here wouldn't sell their seats for $10 each and that we place a higher value on our tickets than that.
$15 is a cheap ticket. not much more than a movie costs, and way more entertaining.

Buy a $15 ticket and sit on the 50.

Dutch,
A little background - my wife went to SMU, not me (note my username). And I am dragging her and our two kids to the game. She wouldn't go at all but for me.
So, supportting the SMU athletic department and its coiffers is not my #1 priority. I just really like June Jones, his brand of football, and how he runs a football program. So if me trying to find three free tickets instead of paying a measley $45 bucks makes me a cheap [deleted] or a bad guy, I wear those accusations proudly.

if it is such a measly amount to you, then you should just pony on up and buy those tickets and show your family a good time on the cheap. Barry-O doesn't run our athletic department (yet). gotta pay for stuff around here.

Dude, you're way off. By your way of thinking if you have tickets and can't use them you should not give them to someone who can.

Who cares if the guy tries to find free tickets to bring his family to ford? You have no idea what his financial situation is. Maybe he couldn't afford an extra $50 this weekend. He is showing interest in going to the game and we've got people around here lambasting him for it. The ponies can use all the fans they can get. Give away some free tickets and maybe get some lifelong fans out of it.

you're right, i have no idea his situation. but he did say it was a measly $45. which gives me a pretty good idea of how important $45 is to him. maybe he should have responded to the other post w/ someone offering up 2 tickets.

Fellas,
I did not mean to cause a stir. I have always thought people with tickets would rather give them away than let them go unused, even if it comes at the expense of preventing the athletic department from acquiring an additional $45. I know this is how I feel. I call it good sports karma. Honestly, I really thought I was solving two problems at once: getting tickets for my family and preventing tickets from being wasted. Yes, I can afford three tickets.
(Dutch, I do see your point about wanting the SMU ticket office from selling as many tickets as possible. I never thought of it this way.)
Regardless, my family and I will be at the game tomorrow supporting the team.

I learned long ago, anything that costs nothing has no perceived value.

and in that case I totally agree. If $45 means nothing to you, then you are just being a cheap bastard.

SMU needs to break this tradition of giving away free tickets. I know, I know, butts in seats, butts in seats, but one of the reasons young recent alumni don't get season tickets is that you can effectively panhandle your way through the year on the Boulevard without them. When that starts to get awkward, they stop going. There has got to be a smarter way to move un-used tickets. You should be able to call the ticket office on Monday, effectively void you ticket scan and create another ticket go into whatever inner-city program we've got going. Give nice tickets as gifts to Dallas companies. One of the reasons I started Red and Blue Army is to try to create an incentive for recent grads to buy season tickets instead of mooch.
