You know the Big 12 would have been surprisingly strong this year if they had just stuck together. Texas looks mediocre but even schools like ISU (already beat Iowa)and Baylor (beat TCU) look like they have pretty good teams. Add OU, Nebraska, OSU, A&M, Texas, and we'll see about Missouri and Tech and that's pretty strong top to bottom. Kansas schools might be suspect. I would think they would be No. 2 to SEC.

Why didn't State go for it on 4th and 1 with 40 seconds left?

It wasn't really 4th and 1. 5 or 6 yards to go. ESPN screwed up.

Compare common opponents.
Normally, transient comparisons not always an accurate yardstick, because any given game one team may play better on a given night. Plus other intangibles like home field. But here we have two examples:
Boise vs Toledo (40-15 at Toledo)
Vs
#15 Ohio state vs Toledo (25-22 at Osu. Almost beat #15 Big10 at Big10)
Boise vs #14 Ga (35-21, basically at Ga, and it wasn't really this close)
Vs
#10 (now) SoCarolina vs Ga (45-42, at Ga)
If we want to criticize Boise win over Vatech last year when the next week Vatech loses to 1aa, then you have to give them double extra credit for these two wins this year.
Note: that 1aa loss appears to fall within my initial caveat since vatech went 10-0 in ACC play to follow their 0-2 start.
