BEVO blows ups its second conference in less than two decades! Amazing and Disgusting. I hope everyone is ready for College FB to be nothing more than the NFL light! Say good-bye to all the regional hated rivalries that made CFB so much fun to watch; we now get diverse teams with no tradition playing each other, but without the talent of the NFL. I could live with the ineptitude of CFB because the rivalries made such a compelling story, but now the NFL light without the talent is setting itself up for an EPIC FAIL!The Pac-12 is now going to have to allow the Okies to join in their own monetary self interests and BOOM!Thank you BEVO and ESPN and BCS and the nad-less NCAA for this $$$ grubbing APOCALYPSE!

pretty amazing how one school can ruin college football. NFL light is a good analogy. So disappointing.
You can thank ESPN and BCS to for being a monopoly of sorts.

Look, don't kid yourselves. This was bound to happen sooner or later.
The Old SWC and Big 8 conferences were the weakest in the land. Their television markets were by far the smallest, the SWC had a disproportionate number of small private schools, and members of both conferences had wanted out for generations. The Big 8 was the 'other Mid West conference' and the SWC had no vision and didn't work together - didn't a brand-new ESPN offer a deal to nationally televise SWC games for free? Sounds stupid, but that might have put Texas football into every state in the Union. Might have made a difference, we'll never know, but ESPN might have tried to throw that conference a life-preserver.
Everybody wanted out of these conferences. T. Boone Pickens had a story he told on TV about his father saying when T. Boone was 8 that "If Nebraska wants to go to the Big 10, let them." This was when he was EIGHT. Colorado would have gone to the PAC-10 15 years ago had it not been for the Big XII - at least they tried. A&M (and Houston, and others) has been looking at the SEC for 30 years themselves. Mizzou desperately wanted in the Big 10 and I guarantee you so does ISU. Arkansas did the most obvious thing and has done okay. The list goes on and on. TCU Bigger-Better-Deals conferences every five - excuse me, FOUR - years.
This was absolutely coming. And while I blame Texas for being absolutely greedy and self-serving, the only difference between an Iowa State and a New Mexico or Wyoming has been the OU's, NU's, and yes, the UT's and ESPN. They have made those schools relevant. And we would join them in a heartbeat, so we need to watch what we say lest we come off like Baylor.

I blame everything on Notre Dame.
They were the first domino in setting up their exclusive TV deal with NBC.
ESPN is actually just as guilty as they started throwing $$$$ at conferences faster than it could be printed.

Neuter Dame and UT are the two most nauseating forces in college sports, in my opinion.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

Blame the United States Supreme Court in Georgia, Oklahoma et al V. NCAA-that's what caused all of this. It also lead to positives though that MIGHT not of happened otherwise-like 50 games on TV every week. The Supreme Court ruled that each school were independent businesses that owned its own TV and marketing rights-not the NCAA and not the Conferences. If the Supreme Court had given the NCAA an anti-trust exemption then the NCAA could have continued to act like an organization of academic institutions which could have operated under its own rules which would restrict competition based on equitable, fair play distribution of TV rights and revenues.

Ok, wasn't aware of that. No reason to give each school so much power. Should have been by NCAA or at least Conferences.

Give me a break! NCAA acting as an organization of "academic" institutions and not in their own monetary self interests is laughable. The Fascist NCAA with anti-trust exemption would be far worse! I suggest you re-read The Shame of College Sports if you haven't done so yet. Posted using Windows 8 Developer Preview and Internet Explorer 10 Developer Preview

Hopefully she is getting her MacBook repaired so I don't have to hear her complaints! No; The Thadsta and I are at the Marina Pub watching Football and rooting for the Trojans, Ponies, Spartans, and perhaps the Bruins in that order!
