Mild observation from last nights game

Postby ParkyPony » Sun Sep 18, 2011 11:37 am

One observation from last night. Did anyone else notice that JJ does not go all the way to the sideline to get the play from June? Thus , he has more time at the line to make adjustments if needed. KP goes all the way over, stays awhile then has to haul a** back to the huddle and then gets up to the line with about 5 sec. on the clock. Any thoughts?

Just my opinion but I think JJ feels that JJMD has a better grasp and understanding of the O than KP does.

We always thought Jones required his quarterback to trot to his side between plays but clearly that's not the case. Yes, while JJ is in the other quarterback are signaling but there is also a verbal exchange between him and Jones. Maybe JJ has better hearing (joke). But KP seems to be on a shorter leash.

When Padron was in last night, did he still jog over to the sidelines?

He sure did and but I did not notice whether the other quarterbacks continued to signal as when JJ is in. I know that when he was not playing in the 2nd quarter, JJ was a distance from Jones, had his cap not his helmet on, and just judging from his body language seemed to know he was out until the half.

June addressed this in last weeks postgame press conference at about 4:20. He basically just wanted to give him more time out there to assess the defense.

Since this offense is dictated by what the defense gives you, wouldn't it make sense to do that for both QB's - rather than rushing back to the field and then trying to get the play off in time. Seems pretty dumb.

Even when KP is in there this year, he only comes over every other play.

I think part of it is that KP doesn't read the game as well. A lot of it the last two years was not having any depth on the oline and dline and making sure that June could control (slow down) the pace of the game.

I think it is also funny that Ace doesn't know the offense well at all. They have him line up on the same side of the field as the coaching staff. He doesn't join the huddle, and the JJ gives basically tells him what to do from the sidelines. That is why you only saw Ace play in two quarters last night.

Maybe the offense is much more simplified for JJM and therefore less to learn or worry about.

Or maybe JJM is slow and JJones knows that making him run would really put pressure on the O to get plays off in time.
