Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIII remember being slightly over served at that game, being pissed we lost, but feeling a tiny bit ok about it while laughing as I got to watch the TCU police mace their own kind. If I only would have known what the next 14 years had in store for our two teams, I probably wouldn't have laughed that much.
I need a time machine. edit: You can't say [deleted]*ed on here? Can i say it if i was talking about urination? Last edited by ponydawg on Fri Sep 23, 2011 11:09 am, edited 2 times in total.
Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIITCU has a signed contract with the Big East. They do. Wishing won't make it so. 'Cuse and Pitt leaving doesn't get them out, despite what some hope. Only total implosion of BE gets them out in less than 27 months. total implosion of BE is still unlikely.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XII
Killerfrogs says that the TCU admin says its non-binding because they don't officially enter the league till next season.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIIf Boren is talking true (geographically contiguous) then we MIGHT have a chance if they decide to go to 12. However, if you add 3 Texas teams to the conference you would have to put OU and Texas in different divisions. I don't think OU or Texas wants that.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIWhy wouldnt OU and UT want to be in different divisions...otherwise u cant pair them up in division championship...
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIB/c that kills the TX-OU annual game. I don't think they'd want to go give that up just for the sake of adding SMU and Houston. But if they want to get to 12 teams and truly Cincinnati, Louisville, BYU, and Air Force are not viable candidates, they may not have many other realistic options.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIDepends on how creative you get in gerrymandering the divisions. Politicians do it all the time. ![]() ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIISo it would look like this?
North Kansas Kansas State Missouri Iowa State Oklahoma Oklahoma State South Texas Texas Tech Baylor TCU SMU Houston Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIBig ten separated but kept rivalry games...then you also get to sell that UT OU could meet twice a year with BCS/national championship hopes on the line...
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIThe Big 12 can split the divisions up anyway they want. Each team in the SEC has a permanent cross-divisional rival. As an example, Auburn (west) plays Georgia (east) annually. UT and OU could do the same and still meet in the championship game later in the season. They could also stick Baylor and TCU in the North if they wish.
The benefit of 12 teams is that the teams would only have to play 8 conference games and play 4 non-conference games. This would enable UT to have an additional non-conference home game and more money. It would also reduce the number of games against the likes of Iowa State and Kansas State from the other division, a stated goal.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIstick smu in the north. no concession is too great. let ou be in the south
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIget real-OU and OSU would vote down any move to the North. Folks its spelled recruiting and its the lifeblood of these Oklahoma schools. You can post all kinds of delusions and scenarios-it all comes down to recruiting Texas.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIThen shouldnt we be in a conference that doesnt have texas ties???
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIII agree, OU and OSU to the north only works if they add 3 texas schools. If they do, then they get similar access they have now to Texas (2 games in some years, 1 in others). OU has the permanent Texas game in Dallas. Flip it around though, do they really want to go to 2 divisions and have OU and Texas never able to play in the champ game? I suppose one jinky thing they could do is ignore the division winners and have the two highest ranked schools meet in the champ game. basically the divisions just become a scheduling framework for keeping local rivalries.
Re: Chip: TCU increasingly likely favorite to join Big XIIThe way you would do it is the SEC comparison w/ Georgia and Auburn. TX-OU continues annually plus the Big 12 would probably love to see the financial windfall of the damn near certain rematch every year in the B12 Championship Game.
Back off Warchild seriously.
